Hey guys this is a tutorial for all those out there that want to get used to the current launcher but still want to use some mods that haven't updated yet.
Also if you like having multiple versions of minecraft this will allow you to use the 1.6 launcher as a central location to switch between any version of minecraft you setup.
I am assuming you know how to create a batch file for an optional step, can find the default minecraft directory
And you can install forge.
Step 1. Download the latest launcher from Mojang
Optional Step 2.Create a batch file with the following command
Where Javaw.exe is where your javaw.exe resides
Minecraft1-6.exe is where you will be storing the launcher
Minecraft\Bin is where the launcher will dump all of its inital files including your jar files
Step 3. Start the launcher and create a profile for minecraft 1.5.2 and run it.
Step 4. install forge into the jar that was downloaded into the versions folder .minecraft/version/1.5.2/ folder by default if following the optional step the look in the red directory for the version folder there.
Step 5. Rename the folder and all of it's content to 1.5.2-forge.
step 6. open up the 1.5.2-forge.json file and change the line "id": "1.5.2", TO "id": "1.5.2-forge", and save it
step 7. relaunch the 1.6 launcher
step 8. modify your 1.5.2 profile with the following arguments
Where the blue text is where you want forge to put it's mod folders.
step 9. start your new profile and you should now be running forge.
step 10. install your mods into your respective mods folders and have fun
If using gulliver modify the 1.5.2-forge jar and rename it to 1.5.2-gulliver if you wish be sure to repeat steps from 5 - 10 to get everything working.
