Okay, I really got frustrated over this because I couldn't find it ANYWHERE on the internet. Because I am a total noob at the modding thing, I didn't really know where to look for it or what to do, though I think I found a way. Note that many things in this code might be totally bogus, I just pasted and replaced what I thought was going to work and it worked.
So, go to your item class and you can see those last two brackets, right? Should look like something like this:
public ChainSaw(int par1, EnumToolMaterial par2EnumToolMaterial) {
super(par1, par2EnumToolMaterial);
{
}
So paste the following code between the brackets, replace what is written between / / and you are done! Hopefully.

return /modname/./the-item-you-need-to-repair-stuff-with-name/.itemID == par2ItemStack.itemID ? true : super.getIsRepairable(par1ItemStack, par2ItemStack);
}
It worked for me, it might even work for you. If you have problems, tell me, maybe we'll figure something out :V
