Hi, this is a tutorial for mac users, minecraft version 1.5.2!!!
So, do you want to make minecraft maps to share with other people? Well here's some tutorials, tips, mods and many other different things for making a map.
Getting the Idea:
1) What kind of map are you going to make?
Puzzle? Make the player solve puzzles to achieve something
Parkour? Races and jumping from block to block
Adventure? With exiting feature with an interesting storyline
Creation? cool minecraft creation you made and want to share
2) List lots of ideas for the maps you are gonna make
3) Search in the internet to make sure that your minecraft topic is original and not repeating other maps
4) Make the Title of the map related to the objective/ subject of the map
Now that you have your Idea of the map you're going to build, the next part is actually biulding your map. Make sure you want to build your map... make sure you have the time, cuz building the map will take quite a bit of time.
Building the Map
1) First of all don't use mods that add any blocks or items to the map, cuz nobody's gonna download some mods just cuz they want to try your map (you can use mods that modifies the gameplay [example not enough items, x-ray mod, etc])
2) Here are some mods I really recommend you to use, it really helps you make the map.
Mods:
-Too Many Items (tmi)
to make custom named and enchanted weapons and have spawners
-Single Player Commands
make huge structures in a click with lots of commands!
-X-ray
too make see what you have built (like redstone mechanism) that is blocked
Now that you have the mods installed, learn how to use them first. They really help you make the map a lot more intersting.
3) Put time to building your map. Hurrying through it will make the map confusing and boring
Finishing Up
1) Finish up the little details of your map
2) *VERY IMPORTANT STEP* Test your map before you share to other people, if it is not fun edit it until it is
3) Upload it and make good screenshots, videos, and post about it!
