What it is:
A way to make a item thats edible give the player a regeneration or other potion effect
How to do it: Prep:
The item will be (depending on if you want chance on the potion effect) either raw chicken (low chance) or
zombie meat (high chance). I reccomend re-naming or re-texturing the item to make it clear that is gives special
powers. Step 1 - Detecting the Hunger Effect:
For this you will need a command block and comparator. Place the command block down and set its command to be "/effect @p 17 0". Once you've done that put the comparator next to the command block and have the
two torch side facing the command block. This will remove the hunger effect from the nearest player if said player has it and if it does than output a signal. But this will not work unless the system gets constantly triggered, by the clock. Step 2 - The clock:
For this we willuse a comparator clock. To make one go behind the command block we made in step 1 and
place 3 pieces for wire behind it. Behid the wire put a comapartor facing the wire. Right-click the comaparator to enable subtraction mode. Behind the comaparator put a redstone torch. Place wire connecting the output of the comparator to either of the side inputs. This will start the clock! Step 3 - Adding the desired potion effect:
In front of the comparator from step 1, place a command block. Write the command "/effect @p <effect id> <duration> <potency>" where the things in <> refer to the desired attributes. A list of all potion effect ids can
be found here. The duration is measured in seconds and the potency is the potion level.
Downsides:
1. This only works well in singleplayer, as it uses the nearest player.
Uses:
Lets say your map is FULL of harmful things, and you want a quick, non-potion, non-golden apple healing system which is bought with points. Heres where this comes in! Simply eat the item and poof! You have regen III for 20 seconds.
