Chapter 1: A Catty Conundrum
Meow!
Red looked up at the sky. It’s not where one usually looks upon hearing a ‘meow’ but these were extenuating circumstances.
It was raining ocelots.
Meow! Meow! Meow!
A baby ocelot landed right on top of his head. Red jumped and it skittered away. What in the world was going on? It rained a lot in the jungle, but it never rained cats. That’s just crazy.
The ground was quickly becoming covered with the yellow beasts. Red decided he needed to get somewhere quiet so he could think. He ran straight for his jungle temple house. It wasn’t far – he was just out collecting some wood. Everywhere he looked, there were ocelots. The meowing was getting so loud, he had to cover his ears. At last he saw the stone bridge that led into the temple. He hurried across, gawking at the sea of swimming cats in his moat.
Meow!
An ocelot jumped right in front of him! Red tried to stop, but it was too late. He slipped on the stone and fell right into the water. Wipe out! Cats began to swarm him, and for a moment he thought he would drown. But Red wasn’t about to let a few felines get the best of him. He pushed them off and climbed back onto shore. Trying again, more careful this time, Red made it to his house and slammed the door behind him.
A sigh of relief escaped his lungs. He could still hear the ocelots outside, their mews muffled behind the thick walls. He changed out of his wet clothes and sat down to think while eating a melon.
Red had seen some strange stuff during his adventures. He got trapped in a Tutorial biome that was impossible to complete. He watched bedrock turn into dirt and diamond swords transform into stinky fish right before his eyes.
But he had never seen it rain anything other than water.
His first thought was that it must have been the work of the Glitcher, or Gil as Red knew him. It was Gil who did all the other stuff by hacking into the root code of the world. However, the Glitcher was now Red’s friend, and he vowed to only use his powers for good. Did Gil somehow turn into a griefer again? Or did someone else take up the mantle? Red had no idea, but he knew how to find out. He had to go see Gil.
Red packed all the essentials. Weapons, armor, potions, and food. Who knew what kind of trouble Gil had gotten into? Red hoped he wouldn’t have to fight his friend, but the raining ocelots nonsense had to be stopped. And if it wasn’t Gil, maybe he could help fix whatever it was that made it that way.
Ready to go, Red looked outside his window. The ‘rain’ had finally stopped, but the ground was littered with ocelots. Good thing it didn’t rain spiders or creepers, he thought. Now that would have been bad. He carefully opened the door and began to walk down the bridge. Cats jumped out of his way, splashing into more cats and causing a swirl of black spotted yellow creatures. Red focused on the road ahead. He had to get to Gil as soon as possible, before anything else happened.
But his hopes were slashed when he heard the distant roar of thunder right as he left the jungle and crossed over into the plains. He looked up and gasped. A dark cloud was quickly making its way towards him, and this time it wasn’t ocelots dropping down from the sky – it was slimes.
