So, I bought the version of Minecraft that was supposed to be for PC, Mac, etc. not realizing it wasn't going to work on my Windows 10, and that it was incompatible with playing with any of my friends (who are all on xbox, and are the ones wanting me to try this game in the first place, so I can play with them). Then I find out that the version I actually need is different, and Windows 10 is apparently not (for some reason) covered as part of the "PC and Mac" version. (Yes, I know, I should have somehow "known" this before buying, and done my research to find the right version, but bear in mind, while it may be obvious to you veterans that there are various game versions because you've known it forever, I'm very new to the game and it wasn't clearly marked that "PC and Mac" didn't mean ALL PCs; the big purchase button on the website just says "Buy for PC and Mac" and it claims to be the version for Windows, Mac, and Linux). I sent in a ticket to support, hoping to get the purchase revoked and refunded, so I could buy the correct version, but since the support website says that they are currently answering support tickets from April 1st, I have the sickening feeling I might be waiting awhile. The only reason I was able to buy the game within my budget was due to the current anniversary discount, which I fear will be long over before I get my money back (If I do and I haven't just accidentally poured nearly 20 bucks down the drain!) and I can't afford to buy a second copy of the game at the moment without knowing whether I'll even get back my original purchase price. Any advice?
The java edition works perfectly fine on windows 10, as long as your PC meets Minecraft's system requirements. But the java edition, like the name suggest cannot crossplay with other minecraft editions, like bedrock. But other than waiting for Mojang's reply there is nothing else you can do. If you want to play MC with your xbox buddies, you'll need to purchase the correct version from windows store.
