I'm not sure whether this is the appropriate place to post this, but I've been running into a problem with my main modded MultiMC instance. In the forgemodloader-client-0.log, I'm getting GL errors that appear to be saying that Minecraft is out of memory, when in the F3 debug HUD it says that it is only using 75% or so of the 1GB of memory that I've allocated to Minecraft. When it does, I get a massive lag spike.
The error reads:
2014-05-14 08:24:26 [SEVERE] [Minecraft-Client] ########## GL ERROR##########
2014-05-14 08:24:26 [SEVERE] [Minecraft-Client] @ Post render

Does anyone know how to stop this happening?
If I give Minecraft any more memory, it just doesn't start.
I have been running something like 80 mods on 1GB by using the video options in vanilla minecraft to throttle it down to 60 FPS.
I just updated some of the mods, and the error in the OP started appearing.
I am running Windows Vista 32-bit, so I can't use 64-bit java.
Thanks anyway.
From a comment on this bug report concerning the "gl error out of memory" error:
This issue is caused by too much heap space being allocated to Minecraft, leaving the system, and thus OpenGL, too little memory to work with. In recent versions of the launcher, you can reduce the maximum memory allocation in the profile editor.
That is, the problem isn't Minecraft itself running out of memory, it is OpenGL that is running out, as 32 bit processes are limited to a total of 2 GB of memory and the 1 GB you allocated is included in that, but isn't the actual total memory Java uses (if you look in Task Manager it will show Java using a lot more than what F3 shows). One fix is to reduce your render distance, which mainly affects memory required by OpenGL (there's a reason for the warning when you use Far on 32 bit; I myself (with a 32 bit system as well) have had out of memory crashes ("Minecraft has run out of memory" screen) when using it, even on vanilla, if I have 1 GB allocated, but not 512 MB (plenty for vanilla and a few mods) - although with all the mods you use that may be too little; in other words, 32 bit systems and big modpacks don't go together very well).

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
