I'm using windows 8 and I want to run a minecraft server 24/7. When my computer goes in to hibernation mode, though, my internet disconnects! Is anyone else having this problem? It'd be great if you can help Thanks.
Try Start>Configuration panel>Internet and Network>Connections>chose your connection>rightclick->properties>configure>tab "power">uncheck the first box.
You will not lose your connection anymore, but that means if you use a weak firewall / aren't cautious, your computer can be accessed by malicious people while you're not standing in front of it.
All translations are very approximative and random, my copy of win7 isn't english.
Sleep mode. After I leave my dekstop for a long time.
Both turn the computer "off" and leave it in a low power state.
Sleep saves everything in memory (and depending on settings, to disk as well).
Hibernate saves everything in memory to disk.
If you want your computer to be on 24/7, it will actually need to be on.
