I first saw aliens when I was 6 years old and I've probably seen it 200 times. In my youth I thought it was the greatest movie ever made, and while I don't feel that way any more, I still think it is an incredible film. As I get older, I find my self leaning more towards Alien now. I enjoy the slower pace, and feel it has more atmosphere and suspense. Which one do you like more? AVP doesn't count. I'll throw Alien 3 in, but I don't know who'd prefer that over the other 2, although it does have its moments.
Sorry, I also forgot Alien Resurrection, which has some good visual scenes, and one of my favorite actors ever, Brad Dourif.
You just can't beat shoving a 200 year old Remington shotgun into a xenomorph's mouth and screaming 'EAT THIS!' while attempting to get inside a cab to get away from a enpending doom of acid filled aliens.
