I have this habit of typing with caps lock when there is a capital letter instead of using shift. (unless I need to use shift because I am typing a symbol.)
That's funny since it adds an extra keystroke. Whatever works. A keyboarding style that "feels" right is important. My style is odd too; I type like a beginner (using my index fingers almost exclusively.. I only vary in using my thumb for space and ring finger for enter) but I do it pretty fast. We had a typing class in high school and the teacher kept trying to get me to do that ASDF - JKL; finger positioning. I was doing like 30 wpm with 87% accuracy when I did it her way. I then ran the testing program again doing it my way and got 105 wpm, 99% accuracy lol. I've found that I've slowed down in my old age though, I was doing high 80s last time I tested myself.
I did this when I was a kid, but I later trained myself to use the shift key.

It is kind of weird, but you know what's also weird?
Typing almost exclusively with your left hand (i.e. I use all my fingers on my left hand while I type, while I pretty much only use one finger on my right hand). But hey, I get a WPM of around ~94, so it works for me.
If using Caps Lock instead of Shift works for you, then it doesn't really matter.

Does anybody else do this?

Seems a bit inefficient but if it floats your boat, cool.
I seem to type faster this way actually.

Nah, I used to use it, but when I learned about the shift key, it's now only way I make capital letters.

I use the caps key instead of the shift key also :7 It doesn't seem to slow me down

If you think I type slower because of this, I type at about 65 WPM, which is a decent speed.

I do the same to be honest. It's just force of habit.
I currently get an average of about 90WPM

Another strange thing I do is I don't use home keys. When I did try them, my WPM went down about 10 words.
I just keep them on whatever they happened to be on last, and it seems to keep my WPM consistently 60+

I currently use shift over caps lock; however, I think that it would be cool to use caps lock! I like being unique.

That's the strange part. I use caps lock and you would think it would hinder my ability to type fast, but, rather, it's quite to the contrary.

I tried to write a paragraph like that, I forgot to use spaces most of the time. Yeah, it's not weird, just not normal.
