I noticed no one had made an M&B Topic yet, so I took it upon myself to do so:
Mount & Blade is a Medieval RPG by TaleWorlds Entertainment. At present, there is also a stand-alone expansion for Mount & Blade, "Warband".
In Mount & Blade, you create your character and define his or her background a bit. Then you are thrown into Calradia, a country at war with itself. There are 5 factions:
Khergit: Nomadic horseman in the steppes. Mostly Horse-Archers.
Rhodoks: A normal medieval civilization. Mostly Crossbowmen, Archers
Vaegirs: See above. Not sure what troops they focus on, I hardly ever mess with the Vaegirs
Swardians: Your typical Medieval Civilization, with knights and kings and so on. Mostly focuses on cavalry, melee.
Nords: Sea-faring warriors. Mostly focus on infantry.
You can recruit men from the taverns in the larger cities, or from the small villages that dot the landscape. Recruits from villages will always start with very basic equipment (A pitchfork and some basic clothing, most of the time). Recruits from taverns are whatever you find.
Any time you kill an enemy in combat, you gain XP. You level up with XP, and can then spend it upgrading your various skills and attributes. Your troops also gain XP, which goes towards upgrading them to better troops. Eventually, your humble band of farmers will turn into a mighty army of knights.
Combat in M&B is momentum-based. The faster you are going (Or how fast your enemy is coming at you, OR a combination of both), the more damage you do. Cavalry can be incredibly powerful in charges, running through crowds of infantry with their lances at the ready. But cavalry are not game enders, they can be easily surrounded and their horses killed.
M&B also has a nice mod system. You simply drop the mod into the Modules folder and select it from the drop-box ingame.

M&B is a fun little game with sub-standard graphics but great Gameplay. But Spears are a bit OP when used with horses (You don't even have to click, just aim yourself at the enemy and hold down W).
Rhodoks: A normal medieval civilization. Mostly Crossbowmen, Spear-Infantry*
Vaegirs: A colder climate faring civilization. Medium/Heavy cavalry, Short Bowman*
* Just clearing those up.
Those Vaegirs are nasty. Their marksman have a 250 archery skill if I recall.

A new player yesterday called them "a green penis which exploded in my face" after leaving his first shelter.
The Nords are easy to kill, if your an archer of coarse. Don't really want to be mobbed by them, you can't press Ctrl+H fast enough get out if the crowd so easily.

Use Ctrl+F4 for those kind of situations I usually carry a spare melee weapon for when I get swamped as an archer.
I heard the multiplayer in M&B Warband sucks/ filled with hackers.
So I [CONTENT MISSING].
I couldn't survive without cheats in the first one, considering I like to kill anything in sight :biggrin.gif:
I still do, but I try to be more cautious.
I haven't noticed the new faction. Is it in a desert?

I've heard bad things about Warband bug/value-wise, but I'm a poor man and cannot verify the claims.
Taleworlds has been patching most of the bugs and the current version (1.31) is both playable and stable on most systems.
They're still developing additional features that never made it into the release while fixing bugs at the same time. It's very slow going and they keep introducing new bugs every couple of patches.
...Not to mention the memory leaks that Taleworlds keep removing and reintroducing to the game every couple of patches. I recall them doing a similar thing with the original M&B.

On Mount&Blade: Extended Gameplay III. WEAPONS. MORE OF EM.
That Star Wars mod
Warband: None (but maybe Age of Change if it works with 1.127 >_<). All the good mods are multiplayer (not). That, and I can't find good mods for this.
Imagine: A TF2 Mod. (Kinda impossible though)

Yes, and I'm aware it sucks.
Really, I can't compose a proper paragraph to save my life.

It's not that taxing on a laptop (unless it's shitty or 5+ years old), really.
Play Warband. Turn all the settings lower till it's in a playable state. DO NOT turn off Dynamic Lighting, as the game looks fugly without it.
That's my tip.
