Question: Is there a random chance your application will get accepted?
It isn't random. They look at your application, look at your posts, try to figure out of they think you'll be a good moderator or not and then choose to hire or deny you. Being denied now also doesn't mean you'll never be accepted, just that they either weren't sure of you yet (basically, keep posting, keep being helpful, try again later) or there was something that stood out that made them not want to hire you (look through your posts, see if you can see any reason you wouldn't be hired in your last couple of pages, try to improve on your own).

It's best to not sweat that too much, though. Your app status will stay as "pending" until we export the batch.
The best thing to do right now is to just go back and make more good, resourceful posts. There's not really any use to sitting in front of your screen, waiting for the orange "pending" tag to change. Besides, you'll get PMmed with your results anyway
I'm not particularly sure whether I should apply or not, as I don't really think I'm mature enough. Then again, I am pretty strict and it would give me something to do.
I would love to try and stop the people who mess up some threads, though...
There's no rush, think about it as long as you need to.
Of course, but I recommend waiting a little bit, trying to figure out why you might have been denied, working to improve that, then applying again. Not much is going to change in a few days, so you'd probably be denied the second time for the same reason as the first, but if you give it a month or so, stay active and helpful, you might leave a different impression.

I'm thinking about applying... although I'm not sure if I'll be accepted... I typed up my application and it seems like crap. :/
Anyone have opinions on whether or not I should give it a shot?
If you feel like you could do it, go ahead and apply.
If you really aren't sure, take your time and think about it for a few days.
Most of what they judge you on is going to be your posts rather than your application. If you have all of the required information, then your application will be fine.

I have some really silly posts from since I was a newbie... I hope they don't judge me on that, then.. o.o
They aren't going to look at every post ever made, and having a few silly posts isn't bad. Mainly, if your semi-recent posts are good and you are being a good member then you shouldn't worry too much about it.
so, it chooses at random??? i would think that because it just says either denied, ok, or pending the second after u submit it.
No, it auto sets it to pending until it's been decided on. If you're accepted, you'll get a PM and it'll be set to accepted then. If you get denied, then it'll switch from pending to denied at the end of the batch, when they're about to import the next batch.

Oh please, don't be so melodramatic. I seriously doubt anyone hates you.

Being hated is not the same as not being a good candidate for a mod.
Considering your reactions to the times you have been denied we can say we have good reason not to hire you.
Yep, it doesn't matter at all. I think all that matters is the rules.
I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
Irony in the first degree.

No, the mods either say yes or no on the person when they see that persons app. The forum makes the final decision though.
