Ah, so that's why I got an error of the server capacity being full and having my browser getting checked.. DDoS, I should get used to it. Maplestory got tons a month or two ago.
It actually wasn't your browser. If you got the white page that says it was checking your browser first, that's Cloudflare's anti-DDoS protection trying to snoop out where the attack is coming from.
Yeah, same thing here. I hope the website'll pull through this. It probably will, but still..
It will. While DDoS's are meant to make a site unavailable for s short period of time, it's not a permanent outage or something that can permanently bring a site offline. (unless there are extraordinary circumstances)
A lot of patience will be needed with this while the DDoS is happening. Seeing the DDoS checks, slow or non loading forum will be a normal occurrence until this DDoS subsides.

Ah, okay. I've dealt with DDoS before and it wasn't pretty, but everything went back to normal after a while.
I've been getting this "Checking your browser before accessing minecraftforum.net.
This process is automatic. Your browser will redirect to your requested content shortly."
all day today. At least I'm not the only one being inconvenienced by this.
Hey, it's not like you're denying service to lots of people all at once, you're just delaying, and the packets will get through, right? :-)

Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

It is a denial of service since the server won't be able to service requests if it's overloaded and those requests time out. The packets never get there because they are never sent.
my browser redirected me for this reason and it has never happened to me before. is the forums being DDosed?
The forums will probably be slow and sometimes inaccessible while the DDoS takes place, so please have some patience.

DDoS'ers motives are exactly that - Denial of Service aka banned members who want revenge (despite them earning their ban).
Likely something stupid.

But then I remembered that's not what those do...
To deny access to the site, by overloading it to the point where people cant load it.
It is meant to prevent people from accessing the site by bringing it offline.
