I see you are referring to IP.Chat, which is what that forum uses (assuming I went to the right place). IP.Chat is an odd beast as it requires a monthly fee and has to be hosted by IPS (the people who make the IPB forum software). From what I can see on their pricing page, the largest plan they offer only allows 250 people on at one time. We routinely have 100x+ that online at a time. IRC does not restrict us with user limits, it's free to use and offers features that are leaps and bounds ahead of IP.Chat. IP.Chat also doesn't fit in with our long term plans...
Don't want to download an IRC client? That's cool, we offer a built-in webclient (linked in my first post) that connects in one button press.
Long story short: we are not ditching IRC for a weaker proprietary software
is there a chatroom?

Icechat is pretty darn horrible, xChat-se/Hexchat, Quassel or mIRC are far better alternatives.
Why, I have been using it for over 2 years without any problems.

No, we don't have a flash/pop-up chat. IRC has been around for years longer than anything on there, and is (mostly) reliable.
