On the forums everyday I see great people all with one common passion, Minecraft. Whether you play Minecraft on PC, Xbox or on your iPhone we all play it and (I hope) Enjoy it still.
Now just quickly I have no issue or hate towards Mojang, they have done a solid job of developing this game to where it is, forget nostalgia for a second and lets focus on the future.
This forum has had a major role in the development of Minecraft. The Minecraft forum has the most widely used minecraft suggestion section as well as many great Minecraft discussion's. Some of the ideas on these threads are amazing! But the ideas that Mojang has seen and implemented are few and far between.
These leads me to my point. I think that Mojang needs to take a more Active role in the forums. Now, I am not asking them to sift through every post in every thread in every section to find the gems that are in them. But what I am suggesting is creating a section of the forums for Mojang eyes. This section of the forum would hopefully focus Mojangs attention to one area of the forums. Not every tom, **** and harry can post in this section.
The posts that can go in this section would be duplicates of the current threads that have received mass support and perhaps an extra pinned thread for popular small suggestions. The duplicate threads would be wiped off all user comments (assuming the good idea replies have been added to the existing post) and left free for Mojangs opinions and discussion's.
This would allow the community to see the opinions of the Mojang team and see the methodical reasoning behind using/not using particular suggestions. Therefore improving the overall quality of ideas in the future on the Minecraft forum.
Not only would it improve the quality of the Minecraft forums ideas but it would also be a solid source for the Mojang team to refer to in order to see what the community would like as well as what ideas the could implement!
So what do you guys think? Do you think Mojang should take a more active role in the forums? Is this a good way to solve the issue?
Well, They do take an active time on Reddit, I believe.
But I do agree with you. Even though Sacheverell does most of the news on the forum, maybe Mojang can start doing that also?

Well I would assume that they do use some of there time for idea generation. As well as the fact that they might decide to do it as free time. We all do, and they would most likely be as passionate as anyone on here.
No, not really. If they want to visit this forum, then they can. If they don't, then they don't have to. Even if such a section was made, I doubt that would make Mojang take a more active role. They've got a job to do and this isn't it.

The current threads that have received mass support were made ages ago. They're rarely ever made. If there was this section, it would rarely ever be updated. Obviously Mojang wouldn't want to check back everyday for something that might not be updated in a year. Your idea fails to solve this issue.

Have you looked at the Recent & Future Updates forums? With millions of "1.6 IS THE WORST UPDATE YET!" and "MOJANG IS GETTING LAZY" threads this forum sure doesn't seem like an ideal place for this. Post to Reddit if you want to have your ideas seen.

The News is fine. We don't exactly want Mojang running the forums.

Ideas from the community are the best kind of ideas, and if they were to be implemented in MC people would be delighted to find that Mojang is listening to their audience young or old.
I say we already have a section dedicated to Mojang's attention and that's the Suggestions area. To even a lesser extent, probably the modded area. I would love to see more feedback from Mojang on certain ideas and aspects so they can clue us on what they want out of this game, but I feel every suggestion or idea possible is already available to be seen for them in 2 sections.

As was previously stated the current suggestion thread is overwhelmed with a lot of redundant and unrealistic ideas. Another thing is the replies are flooded with comments. This makes it difficult for Mojang to confer with each other.
But I do like the idea of maybe using some of the mod suggestions in the Mojang thread!

Mojang would risk everything they have for the satisfaction of the community. Say maybe that half want this, but the other half doesn't. If the community doesn't think of a compromise, the conflicts begin. I can see why they aren't as active as before.
Yes to a more active role; no to a new forum. Do we really need to further propel popular ideas into the horizon whilst leaving new and still developing ideas dead, gathering dust?

I've seen posts stating that Jeb and Dinnerbone used to be more active here but quit because of all the flaming incited by their posts. I'm sure they still visit though I think it's been awhile since Jeb was here. I don't believe a new section is necessary or even a sub-section. I would be happy with a sticky thread that only moderators and people from Mojang were allowed to reply to that could showcase the best ideas and give us feedback on whether or not we'd see them in a future release.

I really would like it to happen since we all have looked at some of these brilliant ideas and thought if only that was in the game, but the chance of this happening is slim because they are a game devloping companys that are in the process of making games and right now i dont think they would be up to looking thought the forums on a regular basis
Yes however, I seriously doubt they take days to think of ideas. It probably takes a about one to two hours, then they go back to work.
But the point of this idea would be to create an place for them to see the community opinion on the progression of the game, as well as disscus publically so we can see what direction they want to head in. Not only for idea generation
