I really have no idea which moron in the IPboard team thought those interface changes were a good idea. I have no idea how I get an overview over all the posts I have made in the past, and when I finally find them I can't see if there are new answers to those posts. That update sucks!
This question has no answer - no one person "directed" this change. However, it was quite necessary - bug-fixes, streamlining, and having up-to-date forum software, to name a few of the primary reasons.
Streamlining?
For who?

My major gripe is they got rid of the things that tell you your rank from how many posts you had. I used to be a redstone miner, but now I'm just '573 posts'
Honestly, the whole interface is nowhere near as user-friendly as it was prior to the update. That's just my opinion. I also don't like how your login information is squeezed into a tiny bar in the top corner of the screen. The old layout was much better IMO.
Lulz. After reading all the posts here I can see now there's no point in any of this. None of you at Curse have any intention of taking ownership of any mistakes or shortcomings, so why even continue to point them out. You're just shifting blame to everyone else as fast as you can type. It's our fault for not liking that options and features are missing. It's IPB's fault for apparently providing you with forum code on a ROM chip. And then the outright lies about it being faster now. Shame on all of you. That's all that's left. Just disappointment.
Both of you are completely right. It's sad to see the mods just throw blame around and make up excuses. Lost a lot of respect for them.
This is horrible. Ok, they change the layout, I don't love it, but fine. They make it hard to make links look like text, but whatever, fine. They make the forum perform worse than it did before the update, which was shitty to begin with, and now it takes like 2 min for a post to be added. This forum is ridiculous. Please upgrade your hardware. I find it hard to believe that you don't have enough money to do it.
Well then it's good that it was broke and they fixed it.
Except they didn't fix it. I still have the exact same problems as before; namely, the "502 Bad Gateway" and "Server has reached capacity" errors. Not to mention the numerous new bugs that the update introduced...

I apologize if it appears people are shifting blame but that isn't at all what we are trying to do. People are coming here and saying "OMFG CURSE Y U CHANGE EVERYTHING YOU BASTARDS!" and we're just trying to explain the situation (that a lot of changes are from the base software and are out of their hands). Yes, there are still bugs to be ironed out, but that takes time so please be patient
Over time, it will be improved for us as well. Did everyone think that the old layout was just pulled out of someone's rear end? Perhaps a developer wished really hard and then POOF it was magically organized.
Sifting through feedback and making decisions for hundreds of people isn't an easy job at all. Honestly, I'm a little sad that I myself was so immature when I first saw the changes. The formatting will be improved, but everyone needs to be patient, helpful, and understanding.
Also, I'm at 666 posts. Pity this post doesn't have more fearsome content.
Just a friendly note: Youtube videos embedded into signatures aren't being "hidden". I'd rather see them disabled (until it's fixed) than have them end up looking spammy like this:
P.S. I like that it no longer shows the date that people joined the forum under the avatar. I found that it really only promoted elitism anyway.
I really like the new reply box, it's so much easier to use. I only wish that you could scroll through smileys instead of bringing up a pop-up box.
I don't like the layout either, but I could get used to some of it. Looking at the first few pages, I see that it is still a work in progress, and the mods are fixing some more important issues. I also see that it was necessary and inevitable, as the old version would be unsupported soon. It's too bad that the lava buckets won't come back (which was mentioned in an earlier post), but I'm sure the look (which is apparently easily customised) will be improved sometime.

Curse devs could have edited the layout/design of the new version at any time before they rolled it out. They chose not to do that. So don't tell us to go have a chat with the IPB devs, as they're not responsible for what this site looks like. Ever. End of line.
No one ever said to go chat with the IPS devs about the layout...
Only so much can be done on a test site. There are always unknown issues that crop up when moving to a live site, especially one this large. Expecting a 100% perfect update is unrealistic, so cool your jets while things are ironed out

IPS was dropping support of IPB 3.1.
The options were this;
Keep IPB 3.1 with everything breaking (BBCode, HTML, posts extending into signatures, all posts being inside of the first post, excessive 502s and capacity errors), or switch to IPB 3.2 and be able to have those fixed, and have minor problems by comparison.
I think I'll go with a different design that I can get used to over something broken.

I think not, because of the 'HOT' badge. Doesn't mean that it's impossible to come back though, in my opinion.

A reckoning is not to be postponed indefinitely. Lacre cannot bury the law. All shall be well and all manner of things shall be well.
Thought so, too bad. With lava buckets and water buckets it was a little bit easier to distinguish certain topics.

I answered you directly (which I notice was omitted here) - are you looking for answers, or conflict?

For the developers, admins, etc.

EDIT: Meanwhile, at Curse...
(this is pretty fearsome, right?)
