Many of those threads could still be useful in the 1.9 discussion, and would be better moved to the 1.9 thread instead of just being locked.
1.8 is the released version, I'd expect to find content related to the released version in the regular discussion forums. 1.9 is a special case in that it is not finished or released as such, a single forum dedicated to it makes sense.

More Ocean Life: Kelp, Coral, Crabs and Jellyfish; Coconut Palm trees for beaches and islands. Terrain Generation Changes: Which biomes and world-building features are most in need of change?
Yes, that's correct. It's not done yet. Which was my point, that it is not released as a finished version.

Way to contribute any intelligence to this thread.
Was just saying I though they jumped the gun on the lockout, seeing as 1.9 is Pre-release and with so many 1.8 topics still very active, especially polls and ideas that could very much apply to and future version of the game.
Just wish the admin had shown a little more discretion and managability to move some posts than just locking everything.
So thats why I still see only 1.8 changelog when I load up MineCraft launcher.
Funny, that there is nothing there about 1.9 official changes.
*sighs*
The 1.8 forums was there to reduce spam of the upcomming release all over the forums.
Now that it is out, it now belongs back in minecraft discussion, and 1.9 becomes the new (upcomming) release section.

There were many threads going there with alot of healthy community debates and suggestions that could really help improve MineCraft.
Why was everything locked up like that? and who did it?

hmm?
These are just temporally subforums to discuss a new update, they will always be locked afterwards.

Was pointless discussion anyway.
