I've been a secret wizard this whole time and didn't even know it!
You're a wizard, Spiteful! I am here to take you to Hogwarts!
Frankly, even if admins COULD see you're password, hacking into and locking your Facebook account is so ridiculously irresponsible, I doubt an admin would do it.
You are ignoring posts.
There is no way we can view the password you filled in, it is encrypted.
'normal' admins can't even access the databases.
Not that I agree with anything the OP is saying, but there appears to be a sign next to each data field that indicates the ability to edit them. Could someone please explain this?

Clicking the sign next to password gives this:
We can reset passwords, but there's no option to read the already existing one.
Of course curse would say its secure, but frankly if sony can be hacked, so can curse
OMG! You're right! One of the admins is actually a big ol' SUPER HACKER! Except, instead of stealing people's credit card numbers, he just logs into people's facebooks! :ohmy.gif:

Yup, you caught us. We regularly steal MC accounts. Sure, we have our OWN accounts we could play with, but it's much more deliciously decadent to play with someone else's.

lol i didnt mean it like that i meant where did he hear it from
One of my friends told me he was sent a message by a mod saying that his account information was required for some kind of hacking check.
Have him PM me, WedTM or citricsquid the exact details of that exchange, including an invite to the alleged PM. I would be shocked to find a single moderator on this site asking for that information.
I still love It, how the admins are really immature about this topic. If you're community is insecure, the admits should be doing something about it, like reassuring people, not making jokes
Make a ridiculous accusation. Get a ridiculous answer. If you don't feel safe here, you're welcome to leave.

The fact that we are able to joke around about this only shows how secure we are. The concept that any of the staff would go out to get someone's Facebook account, let alone any account, is ridiculous. Would you like to know why? I'm going to slowly break it down for you.
1) Generally when a staff member gets hired, they start out at the lowest rung (which is here in this case a sectional moderator). These people have absolutely no power over the IPB Admin Control Panel whatsoever, and are pretty limited. The genesis to rise up into the ranks takes a while, and it's not exactly instantaneous.
2) People when given power generally **** up while they're at the lower rung if they're being malicious (unless they have a giant conspiracy against the community, which is PRETTY UNLIKELY given that people with malicious intent these days are pretty stupid to give themselves off instantly, or would have a background carried over from some other community, and we make sure pretty well that lower staffers aren't doing stupid stuff).
3) The higher and longer you stay as staff, the more trust you gain, and that generally adds pressure on people to perform and please their communities. Whatever leftover possible malice they had before is smoothed over by the labor and the friendliness of other staff members.
As for P.M.s, we can only see them if they are reported or if you include us in the PM. We cannot see passwords and we have no desire to change them because why would we? Honestly?
The fact that someone in our staff would want something so insignificant as a Facebook account to us is a complete and utter joke, and the paranoia circulating around here is either 1) Some phishing site (which has occured before) or 2) Bait to make the community paranoid in the first place.
We joke because there's seriously nothing to fear. Because, you know, Admins are secretly humans with personalities.

No, it is much more decadent to sell their accounts on hack/illegal sites for tiny profits, as to be able to fund this website! :biggrin.gif:

I believe SpitefulFox was referring to the (ridiculous) accusation that the Admins are stealing passwords to get access to Facebook accounts
