I thought they press a button like "delete topic" and erases everything. I will keep that in mind next time i come across a spam post.
Well, they can manually delete each topic, but that doesn't stop the spammer as fast as deleting the user. A few times there was a gap with no mods on, and I've seen spammers go fast enough to have over 100 posts, which would take forever to delete after banning the spammer.

The main things mods don't like are meme/image posting, because most of them are flame baiting/useless posts, and flaming/flame baiting, because it leads to a fight nearly every time.
And spam topics. I'm sure they hate spam.
If you have a reason to post the image, and it is on topic/usefull, it is fine.
Also, if you think you were warned when you shouldn't have been, PM either the mod that warned you, or another mod, but do so politely. Ask them why you were warned, and state why you don't think you should have been warned.
Mine is at %10 for posting about lolcats. I'm not really mad about it and so I just accept it.
So, Whats your warn level?
Heh I got a warning yesterday because apparently I bumped a thread over 32 days ago. I have no idea what the thread even was.
I think the moderator was either very very bored, or extremely anal with nothing better to do then sift through ancient threads. "" was the first thing that came to mind.

I don't remember if IPB has implemented it, but other forum software allows deleting a users posts and threads.

Someone else probably reported it recently. I doubt they would go digging through dead threads to find someone to warn.
I don't know too much specifically about IPB, but in phpBB that was the major problem.
Edit: Also, bumping the spam topics can knock off actual topics, because a lot of users don't look past the first page.

Then someone else must of been very bored and extremely anal to go sifting through ancient threads and bother reporting something that old. Heh. Wonder what thread it was.

Someone probably did a search for something, that thread popped up, and they decided to report you.
Or we have an anal necrothread reader.

Seems like there is some confusion on how warnings work. Well all warnings are not permanent. Each warning has a 90 day timer. When that timer reaches zero, the warning goes away. Simple.
If you want to appeal a warning, you have to go to a member of the Administrative Staff with a very good reason for it. Like proof that it was mal intent or something of the like.
If you get enough warnings (Usually two) you DO NOT get banned. We don't do that anymore. Your posting privileges are revoked for a period of time. With a second warning usually one to three days. A week if severe.
The very first warning is 99% of the time always a freebie.
Banning is reserved for three occasions:
1. For spambots
2. For members that repeatedly ignore the rules and post abusive material and/or posts
3. When a member hits 100% on their warning bar. This has only happened twice as far as I know.
If you have any questions about the system feel free to ask them here :smile.gif:

Well, this has changed a little bit from phpBB. ^^
At least I know now, not that the warnings matter to me... 2000 posts, 0 warnings. ^^

That didn't take long... 10% for calling someone an asshole for throwing a hissy fit about a cancer patient posting a thank-you to Notch in the Discussion Board.

You shouldn't start name calling anyways. Even if he is being an ass, don't start insulting, because it will likely just lead to a fight if anything.

I did have thirty percent before (one for flaming and one for replying to a troll thread, icychamelion warned the whole thread)
But for the last few months I kept out of trouble.

*sigh* Before the merger with Curse, people were actually able to speak their minds. It was quite refreshing. So now we have to be good little boys and girls and pretend we're all pals? Man, that takes all the fun out of this board. It was refreshing and cathartic to actually call someone out when they posted something stupid, nonsensical or melodramatic (eg THIS UPDATE WILL DESTROY MINECRAFT!!1!). Did it devolve into a flame war? Sure. Did it kill perfectly good threads? Sometimes. But the freedom to actually say "you're being a ****ing idiot" every time someone bitches about new content ruining the game and how Notch is the devil himself because he's making money made it all worth it.
Oh well, guess I'm not spending too much time here anymore; if I actually have to respect those opinions to stay on these boards, count me out.

Wow, good to know. Are you an admin here?
Nope. I talk to them a lot though.

Here is a list of admin and global mods if you want to see it.
