Aye, I'm on the verge of leaving because this forum is a cesspool of spammers, idiots and assholes.
Ah, please don't.
A lot of the mods/admins are on vacation right now. Feel free to PM me or other active mods if you need immediate help.
You folks also need to train some of your mods in better time/priority management and knowledge of the rules. I've recently seen people who thought humorous posts (relevant to thread content) counted as "spam", people who thought swearing (not against another user) was against the rules, among other things. They waste time on things like that while, meanwhile, reports on actual black-and-white post "adsfafj;lkasd" in every thread spammers take ages to get dealt with, dozens of redundant posts stay unlocked (I literally looked at the top 5 threads in suggestions just now and 4 of them were guns, lightbulbs, steel, and soda. And I bet if I went to the second page over 50% of it would be redundant threads that weren't locked yesterday. )
It is my humble opinion that mods should not spend so much time mincing words in the grey area of the rules picking out what may potentially almost constitute coming in proximity with one of the rules and instead be spending their time more productively dealing with the big mess. I see folks haphazardly picking away at maybe cases when honestly if you gave me mod privileges for ten minutes I'd have all the redundant threads on the front page locked with time to spare (and yes, I know how long it would take on phpBB, no it isn't that complicated.)
I sympathize with the sheer workload that is there, but I think that it could also be gone about in a better, more efficient way than it is presently being done that would relieve much of the stress on the whole system. That, and they also need folks from western time zones late at night (Nevada, Cali, Oregon, etc)
Somethings I think you might like to know:
My timezone: +9 GMT
Next actual vacation (No school): August :sad.gif:
Next time I'll take an actual vacation (leave home): Never
I there's another mod who live around the same timezone. Just PM me if a guy deserves a ban, or needs a nuke and I'll try to get it through the global mod/admins if they aren't in the area I moderate. Seriously, I'm here all day all evening.

Y'know, I said that exact thing before I started. Even knowing PHPBB as I do, it's still a ton of work, even when easily 1/3 of the reports I carve through are obvious fire-and-forget spam-bots.

Would it be more work than I just expended reporting them, jotting those down and linking them here in list format?

In cases of dispute mediation, yes. More to the point, I don't just handle Suggestions, but the entire General section. I've been focusing on each section one at a time, to maximize getting the reports/spam/etc in each down, before moving to another. I apologize that I haven't addressed that particular section as aggressively, but that is changing soon.
It's all a matter of priorities. Suggestions wasn't on the top of my list when I made a game plan. It is quickly approaching priority status. I ask again for your patience as I sort through this. Once all the reports are dealt with, more personal attention will be paid, I assure you. :smile.gif:

I'm not really talking so much about "dispute mediation" as I am about locking threads that definitively violate the redundant thread rule, of which dozens clog up the suggestion forum every day without fail.

The only penalty of my impatience (aside from my personal frustration with the posting environment) is a negative impression of the efficacy of the staff's current methods. I feel that there are ways it could be done better. If you feel with total confidence that the way things are presently proceeding is the best and most prudent and that my hypothesis is groundless, then by all means continue with your present policy.
In short, I'm not the type where you have to worry about me posting "THE STAFF I SDOING IT ALL WROGN!!!" threads. My input on the matter will only be given where it is desired and where I feel what I have to contribute is actually potentially beneficial.

Thats the problem: We have no way of seeing who is online and who isn't, but at the moment of every spam and troll topic, there are no mods on.

Will do. But for now, the thing I see is this:

Just on a cursory glance, I'm sure there's probably others that would merit it on further inspection.
