Hey guys, I would search to see if this was brought up before, but that would be kinda pointless due to the issue at hand.
The search function doesn't turn up searches very well. I've been around the 'suggestions' and 'discussion' forums for a very brief time and seen more than a few threads get flamed/trolled by people telling the new users to use the search function more.
The problem is that the search turns up more recent posts, and will return several posts within a more recent thread, than for instance, turning up a thread that actually has pertinent information.
Could the search function be changed to just list topic names, rather than the entirety of the contents of the forums that happen to include that keyword? That might make it easier for people to locate what they are looking for.
Additionally, if the idea is to keep discussion to relevant threads, wouldn't it be more prudent to have the search results turn up older posts first than newer ones?
There's some conflict between members I see often (even from the same people) who tell people in one thread to search more and then turn around and tell other people to stop resurrecting old posts, so I'm not really sure what the 'general idea' of acceptable behavior around here is.
