I'd like to apologize if this was previously suggested.
Currently, tips for MineCraft seem to only be accessible in Youtube via video and I feel this forum should have a Tips section so people can write small guides on how to do certain things people don't know about.
I know a few newcomers would GREATLY appreciate something like this and would allow the more experienced players to write tips and guides for them.
There's a minecraft tutorial thread somewhere here in the game mode section.
You're missing the point, the tips section could let people make all sorts of guides and tips all in one spot so people don't have to search the entire forum looking for tips and tricks.
Tip threads in relevant forums work fine, although I think that what Pizzaro might be thinking about is something similar to what Simtropolis.com does:
Of course, that's similar to what the Wiki is. An Omnibus is a lot more formal, though, and to avoid duplication it'd have to be monitored and limited; only approved articles would be included.
(It's no secret to the other staff that I believe Simtropolis to be one of the best-designed and organized websites out there. Over 400k members can't be wrong. We're years away from that, though.)
Indeed not, but I've seen techniques on youtube that teaches how to make good defensive structures, traps and strategies that could make playing fun, especially when SMP comes out.
I'm suggesting a tips section mostly for convenience and also allows more players who're not good at making videos to give their own insight to help players with anything ranging from technical issues (ex. Speeding up game FPS by tweaking computer) to anti-griefing strategies.
The problem with a Tips section like that is that it's unfiltered. That section would be more frequented by beginners who are trying to learn how to play, and having to sift though a bajillion unsorted tutorials of questionable content and quality....just makes it more difficult. You'd end up with tutorial wars "my base tutorial is better than yours," or a mile-long sticky trying to keep track of them.
I see what you're saying now, but I don't think I agree with having an open forum like that. Tips and tutorials can easily be posted in the Discussion forum, but we should really only separate the ones that are adopted and formal, if only to avoid 50 near-identical tutorials on farms.
That's certainly one way to do it. But when considering "formal site articles" like that, you'd want to make sure that they're formated properly, pictures resized, comprehensive on the topic, etc. There'd ideally be more to it than moving good threads.

But that's just my thought on it.
