Just a quick update: we are working to determine our next steps forward, it's looking like we may be able to restore the posts and threads of users who have now consented to have their data transferred by logging in to the forum. Please be patient as we work through this, we will do everything we can to ensure there is the best outcome for everybody. I will keep this thread updated with any further news.
I just started a full-time job a few months back and have been too busy to keep up with my secondary e-mail box, the one that I use to register my Minecraft and other hobby-related accounts.
I have taken the time to, at least twice-weekly, check the forums themselves, though and I have posted from time to time as well. But... I also happen to use add-block.
So those patch-y notifications of yours seem to have been repressed as well.
Bottom line is, I seem to have lost everything just now...
over 5000, almost 6000 messages, months of work, just down the drain.
Needless to say, I am very pissed.
At least, with the Twitch merge, I got forcefully logged out until I merged. There was no real choice there and no way around it.
And what about those cookie messages that an add-block can not typically repress? Couldn't you have used something like that?
This is sloppy, people. Sloppy to say the least.
The secondary forum account, that I created for the dim-dev team was also deleted. Yes, it was created in Europe, but it wasn't even a 1-person account...
All I want to know now is, where can I accept this stupid EULA thing and when will MY posts, messages and other content be restored?

I am sorry for the inconvenience but this was necessary to comply with European law, we did not have a choice about this. Every effort was made to ensure we obtained consent from as many members as possible. We are working to determine whether or not we will be able to restore public content, I will keep this thread updated with any further updates.
Also, what about the pinned threads like small suggestions that got deleted?
I have an American friend who, however he did experience some trouble with the forums in the last few days, did NOT have their account removed, so I think that this mass-purge was based on IP and/or the country you set in your user settings.
That is just my best guess, though.

Very good. Thank you for keeping us up to date.
If you could restore all the posts, PMs and topics of users that got removed and just assign them to... <Deleted User> or something, that would be great.
Just a thought.
Also, two important notes:
1. Although I just logged in again, I have not yet technically seen this statement or accepted it, so you should not have any records of me saying that I do accept it, other than this message I am writing now. I still haven't seen such a button.
Or is it so, that technically, whatever messages and replies we write on these forums now are in this other database and our consent was only needed to move our old messages there?
2. The Bio on my profile probably contains more of my personal information than my +- 5300 forum posts and primary profile information did combined.
So I don't know if you moved my bio to this new database, but I hereby give you permission to.

At this time we are looking into the viability of implementing a process for restoring posts from users who have consented by continuing to access their account after the acquisition. Due to the resources required and the current focus of the company on working through the Fandom acquisition it may take a couple of weeks to get a final answer on whether or not it is possible.
I have created a form for all members who are interested in restoring their content to express their interest, each member (once they have reclaimed their nickname) should submit a link to their profile through the form which can be found here.
I will contact each member via Private Message once we have confirmation as to whether or not we can go ahead with recovery.
Umm....I don't get what I have to do on the website (https://www.curse.com/)..how exactly do I transfer my data there?
You can no longer consent to the transfer your data. That website, curse.com, is our corporate website and does not have any relevance to the data transfer process.
Between December 18th and January 10th users were given the opportunity to consent to a transfer of their data, the process for providing consent was either handled through email or a pop-up on this forum. If you did not consent this way during that period we are unable to restore your content at this time.
If you would like to add yourself to the list of members who would like to have their content restored (if it becomes possible) please submit your profile link via the form linked in my previous post.
@criticsquid Why not keep the threads and posts up, under an anonymized name like "User90283479327"? Then if that user reclaims their account, you can reactivate their real username. Some old threads posted by inactive users contain links to downloads like mods that may otherwise be lost forever, due to these threads being posted by old users who won't ever visit the forum again. Content produced should NEVER be deleted, because of its usefulness to others.

Any user within the European Economic Area, yes. If you weren't prompted for consent and your account was not removed then you were not identified as being within the EEA.

As I understand it we cannot do that, it would not comply with our legal obligations. I agree that content should not be deleted and that it is very unfortunate content has been deleted but we were obligated to do so to comply with our legal obligations, if we could have avoided this we absolutely would have, it's as painful for us as it is for everybody else.

Nice job, Curse. Thanks for removing any posts I would have used for reference, such as this one. Not only have you royally messed up by removing these posts and accounts as some sort of 'counter-measure', you didn't even check to make sure people got their chance to save their content by sending out the emails you claimed to have sent out. I in fact never received any emails about this kind of thing.
Hmm, I may be mistaken, but doesn't the same European law also state that we as the users of this platform have a right to data portability, which should basically mean that these forums are obliged to hand our own data back to us if we so happen to ask for it?
And with handing it back, I do not necessarily mean that the data should be restored on the forums. Another medium, perhaps a zip-file containing the content, dates and thread titles of all our posts and messages, would suffice as well.
I wonder how that'd relate to data that has already been deleted from the platform, though...

Also, why was my profile picture deleted since yesterday? I consented last monday, so it should have stayed. /shrug
