This is a known issue and unfortunately we don't have a fix at this time. The issue is that, "randomly", some members receive an error when trying to access their inbox. The development team are aware and it will be resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience! For now you can try visiting the unread tab of your inbox (click here) as that may work for you.
Still experiencing this issue, trying to get to previous messages (so I can save them somewhere else at least) so the unread link wasn't helpful unfortunately.
Thanks for continuing to look into this!

Also, something that took me a little while to figure out, is that if you need to access that unread PM again, you just go to your browser history and find that PM and click it. Just an fyi till it gets fixed

Thanks, that did work, but just for unread. How do I check old messages?

At this time, unless you have a direct link -- which can be found via email notifications if you receive them -- you cannot access old Private Messages if you're experiencing this bug, as there is no known workaround. I'm sorry for the inconvenience
I'm guessing there is still no fix to this issue, it happened to me for the first time today and I get sent to an error page when I try to view messages. I wonder what causes the problem and why it has been so hard to fix.

It's been over a year, and this problem still exists!

I can't view my private messages on this forum. When I try, I get an error.
Works fine for me. Using chrome.

Are there any News about this issue by now?
randomly means every now and then i can acces my mails, although your workaround seems ok.
Is there a possibility to default the link behind the messages icon to the unread tab?
Regards Chrom

Same problem to me. On chrome and on firefox.

I think you guessed right.
After about a year an no resolution, I would say they are not concerned enough to fix it. Might just be too lazy. idk jag.
Still no resolution, I hope the devs will fix this issue soon. I'm glad I found this thread so I can at least view my messages.
Just got a PM & getting same problem as OP - it error's out....
... Then I realised THAT post was over a year old
It's not the browser's problem
I've tried Chrome & Firefox (on PC - with AND w/o any add-ons) & Chrome & Opera (On android).
Surprizingly though it does work but only if I click on the link in the Email notification I received telling me I had a PM.
The differences between Web site 'Private Messages' icon & the Email link:-
I guess the javascript (or whatever the Icon on webpage uses) has a missing 'PM listings' page

Yeah, I have this error, which is very unfortunate as I need to check my messages to find helpers for a huge project of mine...
It worked for a day, and went back to messing up again. I'm super confused lol
