The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
MCreator does allow you to look at and edit the java source code of your mod, so when you think about it, you COULD make the best mod of the month, however, it seems that most people don't use that feature.
I can see where you are coming from but, no they should not be banned as some people thoroughly enjoy them but it's certainly annoying to have so many of the same thing
Says the guy with the the default avatar, I took a quick look at the mods section, and nothing seemed to be using Mcreator at a first glance, so I'm not sure where you're gleaning this from.
I have a friend who tried to learn Python and was horrible at it. So he went and learned some basic coding concepts in the Scratch environment, and made stuff that wasn't bad at all. (In fact, armed with this new knowledge, he picked up Python pretty quickly.) I took a look at Scratch, and there's some stuff that is really, really, really good. There's also stuff that's really, really, really, bad. It's not the program, but more the person using it. (cue cliche alarm) In fact, Mcreator could potentially help people grasp some coding concepts for making more complex mods with actual code.
To sum up my rambling, banning something because of crappy stuff is like not drinking water because other lakes are polluted.
Ok, sorry for necroposting, I wanted to post my toughts.
I actually started with MCreator and now I'm learning how to make mods using things like Eclipse and NetBeans. People are evolving. There can be many good MCreator mods. I have seen one really good tech mod made with MCreator but I couldn't rember it's name. Another cool mod made with MCreator is Vegetarian Food (not Vegan Option) which adds some food that you can get without killing animals, and I tottaly think it deserves more attention than it has, unluckily it's creator deleted it. I took the time to look at your mod, and I think it's much worse than one MCreator made. From what you are saying we should ban litteraly everything on this site because it was made by "something". Oh no! I can't use eclipse because it was made by someone other. I have to make my own program. Oh no! I can't Windows because it was made by Microsoft. I have to make my own OS. Oh no! I can't use this computer because it was also made by someone else etc. So please stop. I agree with Sniper_Delta_02 that we should add a whole new tag for MCreator mods.
I am using mcreator because codding in java is SO buggy.
That's a you problem. Learn to debug.
And how did this thread even get controversial. MCreator helps with learning computer science principles, which can then be applied to actual code. This is like bashing Scratch for being a learning tool.
I personally believe that learning to code is a very good lifelong skill to have. Why not take the time to learn Java? I learned Java because I wanted to make minecraft mods. Once you learn Java, you pretty much know most other OOP languages like C#. It could put you ahead of the curve if you want to get into Uni or get a Job later.

MCreator isnt bad, banning mods made from it would get rid of lots of things people might have spent hours to days of hard work on making, sure there is some mods people spent no hard work on with little creativity but thats not the only thing about MCreator mods out there, I use MCreator because i wanted to make mods, Sure it may be buggy but it still has a built in code part of it, i use it because i cant code others cant either but they use this since they cant learn to code or its easier and they like it more but that doesnt make them a noob and it doesnt mean they make bad not so creative terrible mods sure some people will but eventually they might make better stuff. if you dont know what my opinion is its no.
I personally disagree with banning mods that are generated because if you start to limit what mods can go places you can lose a lot of potentially good creations.
I have been part of the MCreator modding community and I create tutorials, not just your standard how to make a block but more advanced tutorials,
I want to point out that as it can take away from the overall modding community I think it would be in the best interest of the forums to not take away a place form communities like MCreator, instead create a dedicated thread for the generated code if forums have to go that far.
I have been working on my own mod for a few months and if you put time and effort and have a good knowledge of creating models textures and sounds and such you can make a mod that looks good and has good content.
On a side note, I have been making tutorials once a week to help the community learn more advanced things on my YouTube channel to help people see the full potential there mods can be. and recently I have just started working with the developer to make offical tutorials for the program.
But overall I don't agree that MCreator should be banned based on these reasons, its discriminatory against a mod creator based on their current skills using the software it would be no different if I had my own art gallery and banned any artwork in my gallery that was not made with someone with an art degree, its not proper to ban people for reasons like such, if the person was breaking the forum rules then there would be reason to ban a person or if there was proof that the developer was telling us to break the rules here then that would be a reason to take this kind of action but since that's not the issue or happing it not fair to straight up ban peoples content based on how the mod was made or how the quality of the mod is.
The forums can make their choice but if they decide to remove mods then at least make a subforum for people to post in.
In my case, I disagree with banning the mods. As Northwesttrees said in the above post, make a seperate forum for the mods to go if they are really not useful. Also I am using Mcreator to learn the basics of modding and what it is like. I dont have the time right now to learn Java programming in order to actually mod, which is why I enjoy using Mcreator. Despite the program being limited, I can make mods that are useful to myself in whatever situation I might want.
I've been on this forum for almost a decade now and have seen my fair share of "terrible" texture packs and mods. A ban like this would be a terrible idea, personally speaking. Yes, I always cringed at bad mods/texture packs, but the beauty of this forum is that anyone, regardless of experience, can upload what they've created. I've never used MCreator, however it seems to be a decent program to show someone how to mod Minecraft, and maybe inspire them to learn more, and put out better things. I myself made a few cringe-worthy additions to the game when I was younger, but the forum allowed me to share and learn.
Overpowered or not, cheat-ey, etc. it should still be allowed. This is where the beauty of having a choice lies: you can choose to ignore it, or if you like it, download it. You can even offer constructive criticism within the rules. Some people prefer to cheat their way. Some prefer not to, and that's ok. I remember years ago I had a similar complaint, and was told the same thing I'm saying right now (back when "simple" texture packs were coming around). We have the choice to move our mouses and click, either on a download link or to close out the tab.
I don't really have anything against MCreator. It may be buggy, but some people just don't know how to code! It's not right to criticize them and try to stop them from making mods. That's like saying "You can't publish this mod because it was made with a program I don't like!" It's not right to ban certain mods because you hate the way they were made. Making mods isn't the easiest thing in the world. If you hate this program, ignore it.
