No Duplicate Suggestions
Do not post duplicate suggestions, if an idea has been shared before continue the discussion in the pre-exisiting thread.

Necro Post
Please do not reply to extremely old threads unless they are continuing substantial discussion of the topic. Contentless bumps which add very little to the discussion will be removed.
As said before, a post is only considered to be a necro post when there is no value or discussion added to the topic, i.e. resurrecting the topic for no reason
Necroposting is not posting in an old thread, Necroposting has a very specific meaning: it's resurrecting a dead thread for no reason. A thread is not dead if valid discussion can still be had and every member is very much welcome to post useful posts in old threads, just like members should only be posting useful topics in new threads... however we are of course more strict on useless posts in old threads because it's a bigger inconvenience for other users.
If the rules on this aren't clear we can adjust them to be more clear

Citric's explanation is better:
A post consisting of the words 'I support!' is neither valuable or discussive.
Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, you're talking about a situation in which:
1. A member has a suggestion for Minecraft
2. The member posts the suggestion
3. The suggestion topic is not replied to for a year
4. A year later a member has a suggestion for Minecraft that matches the previous members suggestion
5. Member cannot create a new topic about that suggestion, but that member also cannot post "I support" in the original thread
I can see the reason this is frustrating however posts like "I support" are ultimately worthless, they provide no value. If a member can't explain why a suggestion is interesting to them or why they believe it should be in the game or how it can be improved then it's probably not a worthwhile post to make.
For example let's say someone has suggested something a year ago and you reply with "I support", what value does that provide to any other member of the forum? You've not added anything to the discussion -- so nobody can reply to your post -- and you've just bumped a newer topic that is being actively discussed off of the first page. The people that have subscribed to the topic are going to get a notification too, which can be very frustrating if it's a post that provides no value.
If you have a suggestion that has been previously suggested you're absolutely welcome to post in the topic (even if it's years old) as long as you provide something worthwhile, for example: explain why the suggestion is good, talk about how you think it would be best implemented, post something that another member could reply to. "I support" is a pretty spam-like post regardless of when it's posted, but we're more lenient on active / recent topics because it's not disruptive.
If you just want to show your support for an idea without providing any value to the topic, you can use the +rep button

Oh. I see now. I assumed the green arrow at the bottom right of the post was a 'Back to top' button.

My suggestion would be to limit the time a subject can be Re-Posted. Say, 1-4 weeks, nobody reply's to that subject, somebody else, and only one person can re-post that same subject. If multiple people Re-Post, take down the less active ones.

This does slightly change my point of view, in the fact that I can see what your side of the problem is. But I still do know that my suggestion will apply well.
The 'Home' button on a keyboard will jump to the top of the page, and 'End' will jump to the bottom. This is useful for quick navigation (if you're not like me, always forgetting that they exist).
Also, on topic: I agree entirely with squidy, though I feel I do have to ask... Why is necroposting its own rule? It can fit into bumping or spam.

You can see how stupid it is.
Citric's explanation is better:
They do keep the suggestion alive if the suggestion is still relevant though. I get your point, let's see what some other people say.
Of course, he could stay silent, but that means there will be a lot of dead threads and people who are frustrated...
No wonder the moderators still have a job.
I edited my post, sorry. That was a short-sighted response
