Hello fellow Minecrafters. The map I randomly generated turned out to be an island biome. While it is great, and I love the map, no animals spawn. I have tried setting up fields with torches all around but I can't figure out any way to spawn animals. I have degraded myself down to using INVedit to give myself the materials needed (feathers, leather, FOOD etc.) but, I want to have the "real" feel of the game. Anyone know how to get animals to spawn?
They wont spawn on smaller islands since I think squid take up all the passive mob spawn slots.
Zombie meat, Wheat, Fish. Lots of fish.
Since every monster will like to spawn on the only land available, you will have plenty of spider string to make Fishing poles.
I solved this problem by travelling to a continent, finding some animals, and pushing them all the way across the ocean to my little island. No joke. It was quite fun, too!
(Yes, I know it would've been easier just setting up a farm on the mainland, but I like the idea of having my own little island rich with all the resources I'd ever need. I'm now just waiting for 1.9 to roll around with animal breeding so I can set up a proper farm - I've already got the wheat and melons growing).
