Everyone knows you can toggle the fog distance by hitting the F key. Not anymore. Thanks to the 1.8 Update, this feature no longer has its own shortcut. Now,you must hold F3 and then use f to toggle. This change seems to have been made for no apparent reason. as this forum post states (well, what part of the post that isn't trolling), this isn't a game-breaking issue by any means, but an inconvenience none the less.
Notch needs to be told by the community as a whole that this is not a good change. Remember, this game is in Beta testing, it's called that for a reason. Mojang make the game available, people from all over the world play it, discover bugs, and report them to Mojang so they can be fixed. Content is even added at the behest of the community. The pistons mod become so popular, Notch added it to the game. This is no different, except this time something was removed from the game. So, to help with this situation, I have created a facebook cause to try and return fog toggling to the game. The link to it is here. If you feel the same way, please join the cause.

Hold F3 then press F. You need to add: "It's still in the game.." to the poll.
I think making it so easy to press encourages people with weaker dispositions to cheat to find monster spawners, and they sabotage the game for themselves and get bored and stop playing because there is nothing rare and exciting to find. Also it reduces accidents.
I think it should be configurable from the key mapping menu. For people with reasonably good PCs, the fog option is not too important, but for people with older computers, toggling for easily could be more important.
I agree with NoiGren. In the heat of battle with a skeleton, I may hit the F key while strafing right and get a face full of arrow as the chunks regenerate.
It needs to be put back to the F key. Notch claims that Fog toggle shouldn't be around at all and so put it in "debug" mode as a compromise or whatever, but it just doesn't work that way. To change Fog now, and thus clear lag, I have to take my fingers off of any key I may be using to move with so that I can hit F3 and F at the same time. So, if I'm starting to lag while fleeing from a creeper, I will now be blown up by a creeper.
Apparently some people like this change simply because they're too stupid to hit buttons properly. I've never accidentally hit the F button, but I used it on purpose a lot to try and be able to actually play the game. When you lag out every 10 to 15 minutes or less it gets really annoying having to go through so much hassle to clear it. I have to hit F3+F and then F3 again to get debug info off my screen, then do it again a little while later.
Currently I'm avoiding too much lag issue by playing in a small window with Tiny render distance, but I could play at normal or far distance, fancy graphics, and full screen when I could use the Fog toggle easily. If I started to lag, a quick tap of the F key fixed it right up for a while.

Post and poll modified. Thank you.
No prob, I hope I didn't sound too.... douchebagish?
And I guess asking to change it back to the original F button is still a valid argument, although I like the current implementation.
Maybe that ought to be the new poll. Back to F or not?
At this point people are just trying to be pissy about the update to fit in.
Now I don't need to change it to not accidentally hit it.
