I just discovered that a word in my signature has been censored that wasn't before the move to cobalt. It could be used as an insult (a very, very tame one) but it is nowhere near being vulgar enough to deserve to be censored.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
Well you can turn off censoring. Out of curiosity though, do you mean "jerk"? If so, I can think of how that word would be used in combination with another one to mean something vulgar, but I agree that the word itself shouldn't be worthy or a censor.

as the user above me has said, you are free to turn it off
Huh, maybe it's a staff only thing. Perhaps this should be a feature request, then, to allow all users to toggle the censor.
100% agree. I don't mind if a forum censors a few of the harshest vulgarities just to keep the environment relatively friendly, but does anyone really think that a modern-day child is going to learn a new swear word from the Minecraft forum? Or that they will be upset seeing the word c-r-a-p? The former I can let slide, but the latter seems to be censorship taken too far. At any rate, an option to toggle it on or off would be great.
Honestly, when you can't even talk about the knee-jerk reaction that people are having to the new forum without something being censored... you've gone to far.
I'm all for a toggle button. Just removing the words that also have a non-profane meaning would also work fine for me.

ya I would think just removing it would be easiest .-. but I guess not XD
The rules about profanity on this forum are the same as the rules on the previous forum: DO NOT use profanity at all anywhere on the forum, the censor only exists as a fall back to catch any profanity that members do use. The same rules apply which includes warnings for using profanity, just because a word isn't caught by the filter that does not mean it's okay to use nor does it mean because the filter exists that you can use the word. Please use common sense, just do not type profanity, ever. If a word is missing that you think needs to be there please contact me.
I have set the censor to only match exact words which appears to be an error with some words, I will rectify that issue now.

The issue isn't with that, it's that words like j-erk (which isn't profanity under the loosest definition of the word) are being censored.
Also, are we supposed to be able to see that Deonyi's post was deleted, and that he recieved a warning for it? That kind of thing used to be kept private.

Ah oops, my error. Fixed, thanks for letting me know.

Just read this again and had an issue with this part.
How are we supposed to abide by this rule if you have such a loose definition of profanity that includes words like j-erk and s-ex?
Sorry, in my haste to reply to this topic I completely missed the discussion over the word jerk being censored. I've removed that word from the list, I didn't write the list myself (went based on some study on profanity) and I guess they added the word jerk for some reason. Sorry about that, my bad. If you see any other words that shouldn't be there feel free to PM. I'll be publishing a list of the words on the list with the rules asap.

If you're gonna start censoring that you really need to add a filter, that's the kinda insult a 5 year old would use.
ya I would think just removing it would be easiest .-. but I guess not XD
Yup, that's exactly it. Silly isn't it? I barely consider that an insult.

The rules are very clear on this and ignorance is not an excuse, they have been this way for almost 2 years now: http://www.minecraftforum.net/meta/rules

I've been here for a loooooooooong time.
