Hello, I haven't played this game in like 2 years and suddenly I was in the mood to play again, so I thought I'd download Minecraft and Technic Launcher on my new laptop. You know, after over 4 years of development I hoped that things like version changes and modding would have gotten simpler, but this is way more complicated than it was back when I started playing.
I noticed that there seem to be two prevalent versions between my favorite modpacks, 1.8.9 and 1.7.1. MOST of the modpacks I want are for 1.7.1 but I can't for my life find a way to use it. I opened my MC launcher and tried to edit profile, and 1.7.2 is there along with everything after and prior EXCEPT 1.7.1. I tried to google a download for the executable since the JAR files won't run on their own on my computer for some reason and had no luck. I'm getting really frustrated. I hate playing vanilla, and I've been trying since 6pm last night just to get a single modpack to load with my Minecraft game and I already had to fix a problem where I accidentally dl'd a 32bit Java so I couldn't allocate more than 1 RAM, which improved things but didn't fix the whole problem. Does anybody know an easy way to load 1.7.1 or a way I can get those modpacks to run with a different version? I haven't played in ages so I'm kind of out of touch with the resources available and the way the game functions in terms of mods and version compatibility.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
