I recently played on a new world and decided to mess around with villagers in a village. I teleported them to me and observed how they reacted and how some of them got back to the village, it turned to night so zombies came and turned some of them into zombie villagers while others just wandered around. One of the only villagers I saw to have made it to the village to seek shelter was a Nitwit. Because of the fact that he had the sense to find shelter from the zombies, I gave him a nice house on this amplified-looking hill that overlooked the village.

They are the smartest villagers because they found a way to avoid being enslaved by the player (since they don't do anything) while at the same time still benefiting from the luxuries of the village and the protection from iron golems.

Remember those versions that minecraft pranked us with? Specifically:
Minecraft 2.0
Minecraft 1.VR-Pre1
Snapshot 15w14a
Minecraft 3D
Those are still downloadable! Watch this video for 2.0:
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.

I don't treat nitwits different when i need villagers as placeholders for ironfarms. But this is abstract abuse and you have a good point.

For now i'm working on a private modpack that suit's my own playstyle.
I am gonna stay in modded 1.12.2 untill my potato dies. No mercy! :Q

Since i don't know any programming language i can't tell you for sure but my guess is,
that Nitwits have a shorter pathfinding AI since they don't need to search for workstations.
So i don't know the if comparisons villagers go through and i can't tell if Nitwits share the same AI.
However, since they don't need to do what other villagers need to do it's not very unlikely that they have slightly faster pathfinding.
