I'm not an idiot, so i would be more than happy with a link to where i can learn this stuff for myself, preferably by reading and not in video format. Im not just looking for you guys to do my work for me. I just can't find it anywhere.
A full description of the map will be included at the bottom in case it's helpful.
I'm open to suggestions of any other way than what I'm thinking, as long as it works, even if it's difficult. Somebody suggested plugins to help, I'm using xbox one (better together) and phone edition. I don't know if plugins are possible for me.
6 players spawn at the hub, they have buttons to choose their character; host, swordsman, archer, support archer, mage, and defense builder. When they press their characters button I want to use command blocks to make the following happen,
1. Set their permissions (I get into that more in a sec)
2. Teleport in front of their loadouts dispenser.
3. Activate switches that will start their respective dispensers
4.hold them still until everything has been given (to avoid them stealing from eachother) I have specific enchantments on some items so I don't think I can just give them their items through command blocks.
5. Deactivate the same switches once all dispensers are empty
6. release players.
7. Activate keep inventory (I can do this)
The permissions I think are the hardest part from what I've looked up. I'll explain what permissions I want them to have and why.
Host, Is in creative (I can do this)
The players, should be able to
1.build/mine,
2.attack animals,
3.Use doors and switches.
Should not be able to
1.Attack players (except mage and support archer.)
they need to be able to attack players because the game has arrows of regen and arrows of strength, so the support archer can heal. for the sword bearing ones it would be more annoying than helpful to be able to attack players.
2. Open containers.
they can't open containers because they get their items from dispensers as a bonus or to help them. If they can just go into them then the game is broken. Anyone could just grab totems of undying or notch apples or even just remove all the spawn eggs.
I would massively appreciate any help. I want to upload this one. I can see alot of potential for it if I can just iron out the creases so that the host doesn't have to do all of my behind the scenes stuff. That way any group of 6 could have an amazing experience on it.
Also I'm playing on xbox (better together) and phone edition at the moment if that makes a difference.
This is the description of the game, if you already know how to accomplish the above, you may as well stop reading here.
The players will spawn in a hub and tp to where they need to go from a button, and find themselves here
And the host will tp to his control room where loadout dispensers are currently triggered, a wall of bonus items for players
Here the host can observe the game safely, cover the chamber with lava from floor to ceiling, activate blast shields, turn the lights off, spawn 10 of any enemy at the touch of a button, Activate 6 beacons with a single switch, activate lights to count the waves. All of this is Redstone ( I'm handy with Redstone, useless with command blocks)
The players have to survive 10 waves. It goes from zombie hoards when they have just their basics up to 2 withers and every enemy you can spawn until you're at the enemy limit with lava raining on them once in a while and the lights off when they're almost unkillable. This can only be survived with every player doing their part.
After wave survival you get free of the chamber and get all permissions back.
This is where players have to find their way around the map currently they find books. (At a later date I'll find out how to add dialog for villagers using command blocks.) The books give the players clues to help them find hidden doors and Redstone puzzles, i intend to add some riddles too if I can have a dialogue based thing where the player writes their answer. As well as some parkour, minigames, and side quests thrown in for good measure until they find the tunnel out.
Once out they unlock survival mode. They have an adventure by boat which at the moment is a simple track but will be expanded to have some wrong directions, side quests and I really want to try and add an underwater castle at some point for a side quest.
They take their boats through a waterfall, into the labyrinth. Nobody makes it through all 18 traps without falling for one, most fall for almost all of them (will add more, i love making traps). Once at the end they get the best kits I know how to make.
Now they get to fight the enderdragon and complete the game. I've read that I may be able to spawn the enderdragon in the normal world so it may end with fighting him in town if I can make that work with the towers spawning too.
