Besides possible legal ramifications of streaming music for other people to listen to without permission from the owners, this doesn't sound like something I would enjoy.
Whenever I played games online the first people that would be muted are the ones who have their mic on specifically to blast music to other players. Chances are a good portion of players won't have the same taste in music or don't want to listen to music at all. And if they do want to listen to music, they can just play their own music.

Correct, If they didn't have the same taste in music then they wouldn't have to be on the server. As far as the legal ramifications, the music that would be played would be authorized by the creators. Then for the music blasters, they wouldn't have an in game mic chat. And in relation to the people who want to be on the server but want to listen to their own music, can simply turn the server music off.
I play on smaller smp vanilla(ish) servers, and all of them had a discord (ts before) with a music bot. I'm not someone who's any good with coding, so I'm unsure if playing music in-game server wide is even possible or not. But programs like Discord allow for music streaming like that to be possible.
Would you play on a server if there was a world wide radio station and have a never ending/ repeating playlist of music?
