I have some mods that I want to try on a singleplayer for minecraft 1.12.2 but to itself, I want to make farms in the end mainly the dragon breath, not to lose the items when committing suicide to return to overworld or to kill the dragon so that show us the return portal; First, I want to know if after reviving the dragon after killing him, is the portal that is created destroyed until we defeat the revived dragon again? and second, with mods is it possible to return to the overworld without killing the dragon or committing suicide?
I hope you can share what you know, if you know any mod that does what is expressed here, I would appreciate it a lot, greetings and see you next time.
I don't know if his portal closes when you respawn him. I would think not but I've never tried it. Of course, you could always just start up a test world and cheat your way through it to answer that question yourself :P..
That said, you can just bring an ender chest.. dump everything in that before suiciding and pick it up on the other side (use shulker boxes if you need more than one ender chest worth of storage.) Just have make sure to build yourself a safe spot before you start where the dragon can't kill you while you're unloading your gear and items.
Edit: Just realized you won't have shulker boxes if you haven't killed the dragon the first time. So set yourself up a storage room with regular chests and just make multiple suicide runs, moving an ender chest worth of stuff to the real world each trip.
The revival/existence of the dragon means there will not be a home portal. If you want to revive the dragon but not kill it, you'll have to suicide your way back or install a teleporting mod (or stay stuck in the end until 1.13 comes out, it has a new feature in the command system that lets you teleport across dimensions).
An interesting thing to try. I've heard about it, never tried it myself.
Craft an End Crystal. As soon as you arrive in the End, before the dragon can spawn, you can supposedly place that crystal down, preventing the spawn and opening the portal back. I assume you have to be very quick.

Or switch to Creative mode and build a portal like the ones in the Strongholds that take you to the End and fill it with Eyes of Ender.
The Portal Frame Blocks have to be placed from inside the frame and so that the green v-shapes on top face inwards/outwards.
Just testing.

(Looks like it's an unresolved bug, so I might experiment to see if I can do it. - https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-123081 )
