As you have already heard, the "Better Together" update is bringing some severe changes to the platforms of minecraft. I am personally under the opinion that Microsoft will end support for the Java edition fairly quick. If this is the case and Java edition closes its doors, Mac players along with Linux players will be left out of Minecraft altogether. As of now, Minecraft "Better Together" combines Xbox, Switch, Windows 10 edition, iOS and Android. Notice the lack of Linux and Mac. Are current non-Windows users going to be scammed into buying Windows and (Windows 10 edition of Minecraft) to continue the PC experience of the game? Any new info would be gladly appreciated, along with your predictions of the future.
Put your spoiler here.
