So I am currently running a realm for me and my friends but as we all know the game updates and changes. So to my question. If I'm running on a seed I like in the game and the new update comes in order to obtain the new updated information will I have to remake the whole world and not use the same seed? will all the stuff I made be for nothing? To simplify will everything need to be refreshed for a new update Or will it get factored into your current world?
If you keep the old world then everywhere that anybody has been to or close to (about 128 blocks away I think) will have already been generated in the current version and won't have most of the new features, the parts of the world that haven't been visited before the update will have the new features.
If you recreate the world you can certainly use the same seed to get the same landscape with the new features added but without your buildings, mines, etc, I'm pretty sure the landscape generation isn't being changed this time (except for adding new minerals and such).
There are ways to copy parts of your old world into the new one thereby keeping buildings and such, I keep hearing about something called MCEdit but someone else will have to explain how you use it.

Just testing.
