I'm making a video about the redstone-powered arena I've built and in order to test it I want to create a tournament, where up to 8 players will participate in a battle royale fight, where the last remaining person will win some kind of prize, like a Steam gift card or something.
I rented a server and the map is ready, but I have no people to invite, because my friends don't play Minecraft. Therefore I'm looking for players here.
The question is whether am I allowed to make a post about me searching for them or not. The rules don't allow advertising side servers, but in my case it's just a fun little quick time event.
Forum rules may prohibit advertising of third-party servers; in your case, this is not necessarily advertising, but rather an offer to participate in a small event in Minecraft.
Before posting your message, I would recommend reading the forum rules again and making sure that your message does not violate them. If the message does not contain links to third-party servers or other advertising, but simply invites you to participate in a tournament, it will likely be accepted.
Thank you for the detailed reply! Yes, the tournament will last for around 1 hour (maybe even less) and that will be it.
I was going to give my discord username instead of a link. However I'm still not sure whether I can leave it in a public post just like that.
Does Minecraft Forum have DMs? Then maybe I could invite the players (who wants to participate) directly, without posting any links publicly. I guess that should work?
Speaking of the players - would you like to take part in the tournament yourself?
I would be more than happy to invite you! We already have 3 players at the moment and lacking 5 more.
I have been making posts about the competition on a several platforms for a few days, but the amount of replies there is quite low - it's like collecting infinity stones at this point 😄.

Yep. Just hover the cursor over the user's avatar to write him a PM ^^
I'll think about it. I might even write you a message myself hehe
right to the stars!
Thanks for the info! That's very kind of you 😊.
Sorry for the wait. I'm replying a bit late, because..
I managed to gather all 8 participants! And host the tournament! Yay! Now I just need to edit this part of the video and it will be o-u-t!
It was indeed a great experience.
I'm looking forward for organising and hosting more of such events(next month maybe?) and would be excited to invite you there!
Stay tuned! Wish you a good day ☀️
P.S. I don't know how to quote from the phone, but basically my first two sentences related to your reply 1 and 2 respectively.
Usually it gets shouted on the chat to attract ppl to join your competition. You can try that as well. Good luck
