Same as you usually get the game: As an update. It will still contain no DRM, just like the Beta releases, so there will be pirated versions :sad.gif:
and anyone who has the illegal copies still won't have valid logins
illegal copies have the old login thing where you didnt have to connect to the net to play!
ps. i know this because one of my friends has the illegal copy :tongue.gif:
I assume it will be an update like previous versions. Maybe a new exe file. Either way, the cracked copies are designed to work around the login system from what I understand, so updating would effectively 'decrack' it, making them have to buy an account or get a re-cracked full version.
Make sure you backup you .minecraft folder in 'appdata/roaming' before update if you still want to connect to 1.8 (1.9) servers.
On that note, does anyone know if there will be a live feed of Notch 'flicking the switch' at Minecon so we all know when it comes online? How overloaded will their download server get when that happens;)

No matter what you do there will be pirates. Most DRMs are only in place to protect a game for the first week of release after that its cracked.
I wouldn't have bought minecraft if I hadn't pirated it. When I first saw lets plays of it I just thought. Meh but I was bored so I downloaded it from tpb. So without piracy I wouldn't have bought it.

I hope so :smile.gif: I'd have youtube (or whatever it is on) going the moment he does it, BANG I download it.

If you have already bought the game, then I assume it comes as an update. I don't think MC will release it a physical object.

All of the Minecraft download servers are hosted on Amazon's S3 AWS service, and some authentication servers are also hosted by Amazon, so expect explosions from Amazon datacenters. (Rackspace hosts the remaining login servers if I remember correctly.)
Also, I feel sorry for Tumblr from taking the strain of millions opening their launchers simultaneously, causing millions of requests to head towards the mcupdates tumblr.
All of the pre releases havnt been pirated because notch released them as jars so, if he done the full game like that, they won't be pirated until some sad ******* does it which by that point most people who would have played the pirated would have purchased the full game
You can, in fact, run a minecraft.jar file without buying Minecraft. All you need are the LWJGL libraries and a batch file.
That's how I ran Minecraft before buying it.

but what if you are wrong?
Jeb mentioned on Twitter that there won't be boxed copies. I don't think that Mojang has a new update system planned out yet.
1. He probably isn't
2. So what, you bought the game, you will get it
He's not wrong. It would be MUCH more difficult for Mojang to do it any other way. So it would be just like any other update.

NO BOXED COPIES!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Having it in a box makes it so much better. Digital distribution is so overused these days. BUT ITS CHEAP!
