I'm very new to buildings and would absolutely love to build! I really want to build in the minecraft server i'm using right now but I do not have any experience in building, just a 4x4 house.
People say 'Imagine what you are going to build and build it.'
I actually imagine alot of things like a Castle, Watchtower, Volcano, Eiffel Tower, and all that mega structures. But I can't put it in action. That's my problem. Anyone of you who would like to build but don't know how? Your not alone :smile.gif:
Can some of you share how you actually became a very professional builder?

What really helps with learning to build is to join a server with skilled builders. Try to start small, and have the skilled builders comment on what you could do to make it better, and work from there. Everyone has something they're good at building. Some are really good at pixelart and some are good at big buildings. You just have to build a lot of different things to get the feel for what you like to build. And don't be afraid to use all different types of materials and building styles! This will help you figure out what things you like building most!
Hope this was a help! :smile.gif:

Sketch idea's of what you're going to build on paper. As you add more parts to your building, keep adding to your sketch. Basically, your following a path of options to make your house.

This for larger projects. As for the rest, like others said, start out small. While I wouldn't call myself a professional builder on miencraft, I would call myself decent. Here's some tips.
1. Start small. Even if it looks crap then so what? It's an early piece of work. It's going to look crap. One of my first minecraft projects was a rectangular castle, a simple rectangular tower, and a tunnel under the ground. I've seen progressed to larger mansions, hotels, themed halls etc etc.
2. Google things that you want to build and take inspiration from them. If you're starting out, see if you can build a copy of them rather than downloading the original. This helps improve your building technique and will eventually mean you can build your own creations.
3. Practise. I know it's cliched, but it works. You're going to build plenty of dirt huts before you build your palaces. Don't worry about copying other people's work while you're practising...everyone does. Just don't try to claim credit for it by putting it up for download.
4. Building is easy...building what you want to build is the hard part. Use the first 3 tips to get accustomed to the building materials and texture packs that you'll be using. That's how you make creations that look as you want them to.And trust me, the texture pack can be very important
How about WorldEdit, you can make buildings. FAST! Watch some videos about it, and you'll be good, it takes time to build but it's fun building, I made a HUGE building like bigger then 20x20x20!
I build like this:
Start from ground, make a square ring, keep doing this until height is 4.
Cut a hole 1x2 (Length, height) (or 2x2)
Add door
Cut 1x1 holes on the second height block, every 2 blocks
Add lighting blocks.
That's how I build :biggrin.gif:
What I do is just start placing random blocks down in an area and go from there...my latest creation is a large tower attached to a cathedral on top on my underground base...Not very enticing I know but I'm not very creative and this just popped up. Also if I am out driving somewhere or something and I see something that I like, I will think of making it in minecraft.
Hi, this is my biggest building, it's available in this link:
If you want to build something, do like me, start with small but complex constructions, like a 30x30 house. After that you can keep trying harder things... Building to the clouds.
And after that you can make a big squarely hole on the ground and create something that's 225x250x120. Good Luck.
