I upgraded my processor.when i went to plug the heatsink plug in the "cpu fan" slot on my motherboard,i noticed that the plug had slots for 4 connections, and my motherboard had only 3 metal rods(connections).i plugged it in any way, with 1 connection missing.about 3 months later,it blue screened.the error code is always different.could that be the problem?
well like: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION,IRQL_NOT_EQUAL(I THINK THATS RIGHT),and some of error files are:win32k.sys, and direct x.
Sounds like a memory or driver problem.
Are you able to boot to safe mode?
Do you have Norton instaled?
Does it still happen if you take out a stick of RAM and boot (try one stick first, then the others, one stick at a time)?
Also on the CPU fan, some of them have a third blue wire that is not 100% needed and some mobos do not support it. This is usually used for manually controlling the fan speed.

1:yes,but blue screens immediately
2:no
3:still crashes,also removeing gpu,replacing cpu,replacing ram,and switching heatsinks.wasted about $200. :anger:
We're pretty much out of options at this point then. :/
You need either a win7 disk or a new motherboard. It's hard to tell if this is just a quick 'startup repair' fix or if the mobo itself is causing the issues.
There's most likely another underlying cause, but again without knowing the above I can't help you.

You're talking about this, correct?

That page also describes how to plug it in correctly and what the pins do.

I'm not really a Computer expert however, so I might not be the best source of information...

Can you boot from the windows CD and do a startup repair?
Did you recently install something new, like a new piece of hardware or software?

Keep in mind if it is NOT a mobo problem, the hard drive will still have the issue and it will still not boot.
