http://minecraft-skills.wikia.com/wiki/Speed_Path shows a "road" that, when built as directed, will give a speed boost to players depending upon the road type. I know the command block for making "give speed 1 for one second to a player walking on a grass path". The command blocks to do roads as described in the wiki will be somewhat more complex.
What I want to do is send a use case of those command blocks to Dinnerbone on his Reddit page with the commands to determine if a player is walking on a "road" with the correct layers, only the top layer is "use any stone" as suggested in the wiki. Since number values are being eliminated, will wildcards be accepted on block types to allow "use any stone"?
While I can create command block machines or follow .mcfunction files, I'm very much a beginner. But at some point, I'd like to take the idea of the TheBalliBoys () who have not updated their command blocks in a while, and take on the project of making an .mcfunction version of mcMMO ( https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/mcmmo.2445/ ). I know I can't do everything, and I would seriously prefer someone ELSE do this, but regardless of who takes it on, "wildcard matching" of item groups would seriously help.
...
Sorry, I'm exhausted after a day of work and I'm trying to think through how to make the above more concise... my goal is "Hey Dinnerbone! Wildcard use case! May I have a method to do this easily, please?" Wildcard being "allow any type of stone" or "any type of wood fence, wood plank", other examples to send to Dinnerbone so people using command blocks in 1.13 won't have to specify 6 different types of wood fence or all four types of stone for a task. So I need the most simple working 1.12 .mcfunction test passed to Dinnerbone to see how he'd approach the problem.
Again, sorry for the rambling. Thank you for looking at this problem. Hopefully, we can get a result that helps us all in this situation.
