Most of the clans here are only a couple of people strong...
When MP comes out, will we all play on the same server?
If there is a huge server somewhere that will be able to handle pretty much everyone,
I have this idea.
Depending on what clan you belong to, you will be sorted into one of four groups.
Blue - A kingdom with a monarch
Red - A communist state
Green - Roving bandits, nomads, whatever
Yellow - Traders
This would make the game much more interesting for a couple of reasons.
♪ With many players around the world in each team, there will always be some people to defend, watch and interact with the other teams. (unlike some servers where no one is on at certain times)
♪ The operation of the teams will depend greatly on the leadership skills of the ruling party.
♪ It sets a clear goal for players: Yellow: Make as much money as possible, Blue: Make as much money as possible and build an invincible kingdom, Red: Have fun, share stuff and create an invincible kingdom, Green: Raids, pillaging, being nomadic, whatever
♪ Having a large team means that there will be enough people to do the jobs assigned. I see many groups where 5 people are in the "attack squad" and one guy is mining and another is farming. Larger groups means that there are people to interact with even when doing the "boring" stuff.
♪ Because epic battles will be awesome.
♪ Because the kingdoms will actually become impressive as opposed to a 3 player clan squatting on an island and declaring sovereignty.
Why I thought of this
Clans are making alliances with as many other clans as they can. In the end, there will end up being one huge coalition vs all the noobs running around.
What is the point of a 5 person clan? They will be largely ineffective. If the members were gathered on this forum, they might all come from different time zones and never meet in game.

I've experiments to run.
While you're dying I'll be still alive.
And when you're dead I will be still alive.
But what if there are disagreements between clans in the group? that would cause friction between clans alliances and loyalties and would just end up fragmented again.
Ignoring my serious problem of communism being the "fun" group, i have to say that i see several problems with this plan.
It would take an enormous amount of work to get every group to do what they're supposed to do. Nomads will have the desire to settle, the monarchy state will have a lot of people not doing what they want them to do, you can't easily enforce the resource sharing of the communist state, and so on and so forth.
The other problem i have is the server itself. you can't make people flock to one server with a snap of the fingers, you would most likely have to do a lot of work to establish the server as a truly unique place.
I say that if somehow you are able to establish the server, it would work better as having these "nations" working however they want to, as opposed to making them stick to a set of guidelines of how to operate.

A communist nation in minecraft would be divide into communes, with resources being shuffled between communes as needed I guess..

Yeah this makes sense. This is just an idea though. If other people think it is an OK idea, I might think about it seriously.
