ok, i am making a tutorial to decrease lag in minecraft. (for windows)
requirements:
.minecraft folder
small amount of programming experience (when i say small, i mean small...)
steps:
step one:
locate the .minecraft folder. (easy version: press r and windoes at sametime and type in %appdata%
and locate .minecraft)
step two: open up options
step three: locate fpslimit
step four: change 1 to whatever number. i have only tested 2, but feel free to experiment.
step five: enjoy less lag!!i am new, but it worked.
Worked. Thanks! Had without Optifine 30fps, with it 60fps and with your solution (set it on 10) I had 120fps. That's really nice!
your welcome. i was experimenting with fireworks on minecraft, when i noticed the high lag, i started to experiment on the files, i noticed fpslimit, and i thought of this, i tried, and it worked!
Excuse me but will this work with a 2008 Sony Laptop? My Minecraft is super laggy and i cannot get optifine cause 1.5 just came out plus all my settings are changed to the best it can be for without optifine. Please help me.Also, I'm stabilizing at 4 FPS to 11 FPS , and like i said my options are set to the best they can be without Optifine
Whatever this "fix" is doing, I can't believe doing that is a good idea. You're changing some value and you don't even know what it does? That's like turning some unknown knobs under your hood because your engine is sluggish.
Lag is due to whatever poorly-optimized calculations the poorly-optimized Java code is doing. If there was a stupid and easy fix like this I think one of the 10 million other Minecraft players would have noticed it by now.

1. its not like its doing damage to the hardware or software
2. it is helping with fps
3. it is simple
4. it is easily reversible
Dont see why not to even if you don't know what it does.
What more could you ask for.
Actually it is simple what he is really doing its the same as pausing options>Video Settings and setting performance all the way right to max fps i do this and i get 200+ fps when using an HD texture pack..... but then again i have a super computer... but i still got a 50% increase in fps
All this does is set your fps limit to Max FPS. It does not magically improve your game. OptiFine however does quite the good job on optimizing the game.
