I was curious what the average hardness and resistances for items and blocks where, so I put together a spreadsheet for myself. When I finished, I thought I would share with everyone else. It seems that resistance is innate to a block based on it's hardness, so resistance is only stated if it is greater than the innate resistance of the block's hardness.
Your tutoritals are weary helpfull but I have some problems:
1. I got some problems with text pad so can you please show how to install eclipse.
2. I dont understands the recepy tutorital, can you explane how to make a recepy like this:
3. How do you make the mod ready to be tryed?
Thanks :smile.gif:
Well you'd want the thing to look like this:
"MMM", "MSM", "MMM", M being cobble and S being obsidian. You can think of it as the first "" being the first row, 2nd "" being the second row, and the 3rd "" being the third row.
Thank you Muserae! Now I can combine all my little new blocks into a single mod. SO happy! I was trying to add them one block after another and I didn't understand why it didn't work.
I've been wanting to add new wood plank colors to my maps, when you have the time could you explain how to:
1) Edit/override pre-existing items or blocks to change their damage values or other values
2) How to use damage values.
Maybe that should be reversed? he he he. I have other suggestions as well if you are interested, but I don't wanna come off the wrong way.
I don't get what you mean by damage value, do you mean the block hardness, or like the weapon damages?
Also, you have to edit Item.java or Block.java, but I don't recommend editting base files because it will make your mod incompatible with SOME other mods, the ones that also edit that file.
Hi, thanks so much for your tutorials they are very helpful :smile.gif:,
Could you by any chance make a tutorial on how to make new mobs? and a new Dimension?
(with making mobs as much detail as possible would be nice)

I will be doing Mobs eventually, but I want to get the basics done first, and there's one code in a file that was changed in ModLoader.java, and it's buggy for me, so I don't want people to get theirs wrong too.

ok, np I will look around and ask other people, but thanks for your tutorials they have really helped me,
Would you mind me saving a copy of each tutorial, so that I can easily access it ?
And can the next tutorial be about adding an ore? I guess thats quite important, and a main part of a mod.
Adding ores so they generate will be soon along with tools and armor, but I've been busy, tired, and sick recently so it'll be coming out slowly. I also was going to start working on a mini-mod soon when I got the time.
You can go ahead and save them, but I'd appreciate if you didn't repost them as your own tutorials.

I'm thinking either you downloaded the wrong Eclipse (There's a 32 and a 64 bit) or you need a JDK (Java Development Kit), I can't remember which one I downloaded because I did it so long ago, but I think it was This one
If that doesn't work, here's a list of the other downloads, please tell me if any of these work. Java Downloads

You are doing a good thing here! Keep up the great work! If it wasn't for people like you, I never may have made my mod. :laugh.gif:
Also, I really suggest you also tackle GUI as that is what we are really lacking here in the tutorial thread. I could also help in that if you want :wink.gif:

Religion is like a penis. I don't care how big it is, don't whip it out in public, and for god's sake don't start shoving it down my throat
Can you explain, for example,
An NPC that trades with you like, I give him a gold ingot, and he gives me a Iron sword or something. So basically a trader... Thanks (:

At a quick glance, only thing I noticed was
You don't need the { } after it, but I don't think that'll make a difference.
If you're getting an error, try to lower the item id of the pie.
EDIT: Also with
Make sure you made ItemDirtpie.java

I think that's my fault, I think I had you download the wrong one. Go back to the tutorial and try that.
It's hard to tell because the files are almost the same in a few of them. :/

it should give you a line number and what file it's in. You need to look at that and add a ';' somewhere.

alright I fixed that, but now this is the error:
