* I think he's the first Buddha. If not I'd love to see others.
Wonderful atmosphere to everything you've done here, but I love the apple blossom trees, that was just an inspired modification for your world! :smile.gif: Excellent!
My goodness this is amazing. I feel as if you are my arch-enemy. I made a nuke block that destroys absolutely anything it touches in an enormous radius. You create something to bring forth awesomeness through blocks. I am.... I just don't know what to say....
I've got a server, anyone using "Voxelisation" in this thread and others is more than welcome to join the server.
I'd be keen. Just started planning a statue of Hermes. More than happy to share once its done. After that I'm planning on doing more body parts carved out of the sides of cliffs.
This is interesting, however SLAB6 keeps freaking out, effectively making it impossible for practical use.
Verrou likes Slab6; Chunes (OP), I, and others recommend binvox and viewvox - see that page for a gallery. Yes, they've been mentioned on this thread already, but Afflicted_One doesn't seem to know about them. Each time someone complains about Slab6, this'll be my reply...
My tutorial's here. I've just added a bundle you can download in one go and run without a CMD window (still need a text editor, though), vs. finding the two EXEs, GLUT, and some sample models. Finally, there are also now converters for binvox to .schematic, for lazy people :Sheep:.
stumbled into slab6 independently, used it in building this (at 1:2 scale in SMP):
Had to eyeball the interior but I think it turned out well. Also didn't follow slab6 slavishly. Adjusted to keep symmetrical and just did my own thing in a few places, like the buttresses around the nave and transept. slab6 was invaluable though it counting out height and length of all the chunks.
EDIT re: erich666 \/ \/
will do I would love to give viewvox a try for the next project. One limitation I ran into with slab6 was I was unable to view the model I used in 1:1 scale. I wasn't going to build at that, but I might have wanted to in creative or something. It was too big. If viewvox could handle it, it's already at an advantage :wink.gif:
Glancing at screenshots, numbered grid on the slice viewer looks fantastic!

Lovely! If you do ever give binvox/viewvox a try, please let Patrick know what features are missing or weak compared to Slab6 (other than a friendly front-end for binvox; someone want to write one?).
Wow. That's beautiful. I love the Duomo. I went there a few years ago. The roof inside the doom is insane. I took a panoramic shot
...
I'd love to look around... is it on a public server?
the dome in mine is not as cool inside as the real one D:
the server is the main shacknews.com server, location can be found in the daily minecraft posts in the chat thread. Whole thing viewable here: http://216.139.192.52/~djr/mc/gmap/
Hi. Glad to see people still interested after all this time.
This site has a decent selection of free 3ds models. It's where I found the rhino for the tutorial. Googling for 'free 3d models' seems to turn up decent results as well, although it still requires quite a bit of searching.
Really, really epic but I don't have that kind of patience, lol or the creativity!
