Sever Information
As brief as possible I'll try to cover what we're trying to do with the server we're creating.
First off, the server idea was inspired by Dwarf Fortress. What we're trying to recreate is a feel that you are amongst a large community of settlers looking to build the new Mountain kingdom. Players joining the server would have the option of joining the Dwarves or being part of the surrounding community/villages that will speckle the countryside.
We are focusing our attention to large community build projects, events, and other roleplay tools to make the server feel as alive and original as possible.
We are looking for a mature, friendly, active community and as such will be carefully selecting our members. The application process will allow us to pick players we feel will be a good fit for the community. And just a clarification, when we say mature players we mean players that hold themselves in a mature manner. I've met some teens that are by far more mature then some adults. So it'll be up to the player to convince us of their maturity when applying.
* For more information on server check out our varies links as we discuss in greater detail what our server is all about.
Server Rules
Players can either build within the MountainHome or build settlements outside the kingdom (ie, Forests, Plains, NPC villages, etc.)
Obviously we encourage building within the kingdom but understand the draw of building amongst the surrounding area. We ask that you 'enhance' the areas and not completely terraform them however.
For constructing large buildings outside of the planned construction, builder(s) must provide a general idea of their planned construction and the idea should be posted on the Messageboard under "Zoning Permit Requests". This will allow staff to look it over and be sure that large constructions will "fit" into the style the server is going for and possibly provide suggestions/feedback to the player(s).
As this is a RP server it is expected that the world around us feels like an actual world. This being said, please remember that mines, strip mine projects, farms, buildings, etc should all be kept within the general theme of the server.
Buildings should include a sign stating who designed/built it. Staff also reserves the right to give feedback and request modifications on constructions.
Offenses that will result in Automatic Banning:
Player Griefing via continuous/unsanctioned PvP, destruction of structures without consent.
Vulgar Behaviour/Attitude.
Placing Lava/Obsidian Blocks in a manner that is detrimental to the community
Training Creepers to structures for the purposes of causing destruction of property
*Creeper explosions - If you have a creeper go off and it takes out blocks you're responsible for fixing or at least containing the damage.
Story
(We are trying to keep the story simple and let it evolve as the server evolves. Below is the basic introduction to our realm, Teyo Inala)
We have arrived. ..
After a journey from the Mountainhomes into the forbidding wilderness beyond, your harsh trek has finally ended. Your party is to make an outpost for the glory of all.
There are almost no supplies left, but with stout labor comes sustenance. Whether by bolt, plow or hook, provide for the party. We expect no resupply but must shelter before night falls, ere the Creatures of Darkness appear.
A new chapter in history begins here at this place, here at Avuz Nalish, "The Mines of Forever".
Strike the Earth!
Jobs within the Community:
Gatherers - Establishes Mines, Quarries, and gathers resources.
Builders - Designs and builds Structures, roadways, paths, and bridges.
Militia/Adventurers - Patrols and defends settlements or explores the outlying regions.
Townsfolk - Maintain crops, fish, etc. Also participate in events to make the city feel "alive"
* All players are expected to do maintenance of the settlements
Edit: The Application for the server is up, testing was a success!
Application
Broken down into three sections, these will be reviewed in great detail by staff. Please understand that there may be a day or two lag time before response. Understand that it will be this application that will decide if you are accepted; the more effort put into it the better your chances (obviously).
Good luck! We hope to see you on our server soon.

10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing? That its RP style and it seems the staff know what they are doing and look friendly :biggrin.gif:.
Thanks for the replies! - Yea, my friend and I have been toying with this idea for quite some time. I think it really stems from the fact Minecraft -should- be played with a community, it's just designed for that! :smile.gif:
I get off work in the next 5 hours, when I'm home I'm going to go over the server and be sure it's up and running then pick 5 - 10 folk to pop on this weekend to help test the capacity of the server and bounce ideas around.
Our weekend goal is to see about building a small Fortress into the side of the massive mountain near spawn with a small village/town outside. :biggrin.gif:
So you should be hearing from me today with server IP/whitelist info.
Just warning for those interested - We are going to take our time in designing up the rules/features/goals of the server so it's going to be a step-by-step process.
This being said we're looking for staff, players, builders, etc. I'll have a comprehensive list of what we're looking for over this weekend.
1. About what draws you to Minecraft.
the chalange of survival
2. General age, location, time zone.
I'm 21 i live in Austrilia my time zone is +08
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
2 to 4 days a week and 3-5 hours

9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
i guess what with having a poor modem i could see how it runs for people with 2-3 bars
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
out of all you wrote in the post the dwarf fortres caught my eye
I enjoy gathering materials and building with them.
2. General age, location, time zone.
I am 44 years old. I am in the eastern time zone and live in Virginia.
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
I am on most evenings between 6PM and 7PM and then again from about 9PM to 10PM. On weekends I usually play a few hours, on Saturday my timing is unpredictable. On Sundays I'm generally only on in the Evenings after 7PM.
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8
If I've heard right from my son their are villages with NPC's and quests. I am interested in that.
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8
I haven't heard of anything I don't like about 1.8. I've never liked creepers because they blow up what I build.
6. What PvP means to you.
PvP means players fighting against players. I am not a fan of this and as long as the areas where PvP are allowed are clearly marked, I will stay out of them and completely avoid PvP. I hope you will be fine with having some dedicated builders and group adventurers.
7. What Roleplay means to you.
Roleplay to me means you pretend to be the person you are playing in game.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you.
This means cooperating to build buildings and in some cases means taking orders of how to build if on a project involving many builders for the same building. I am good at taking orders.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
When on I will be busy mining and building and exploring. I'll be happy to adventure with a group to go into dungeons and fight monsters.
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
I like the fact that it is just starting and the possibility of getting in first and helping to build buildings on my own or with others to create what others will see when they join. And hope to be able to make suggestions on how to build and where to build.
------
I am good at cooperating and good at following instructions. I tend to not make flint and steel as I've seen how fires can get out of control fast. I will read and obey signs such that if a chest is labeled as belonging to someone then I'll leave the stuff alone. I will help others by adventuring with them into dungeons and I will share resources I find with others. I look forward to hearing from you.
Minecraft is very good at creating an atmosphere of solitude. The tension is immense. The added creativity encourages exploration; specifically underground. Playing with others is nice because I can show off my creations.
2. General age, location, time zone.
19, Chicago, US Central time.
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
I'll play for about an hour a day. It varies though. I do get on at least an hour a day. Sometimes more.
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8
Everything. Experience, hunger, enderman. All good additions to the game.
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8
...Nothing? I dono. The cattle fleeing when you attack them. But it makes sense.
6. What PvP means to you.
What is good PvP or what is PvP in general? I prefer PvP in which areas are designated for it. Or where PvP is only allowed when provoked.
7. What Roleplay means to you.
Playing a role. Haha. Getting into a character and acting that way around others. I've done it outside of minecraft, I think I'd be just fine.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you.
Communication. I always enjoyed joint building. Building separate things close to each other and working ways for them to look good next to each other. I'm pretty flexible.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
Uh. Interest? Setting stuff up? I couldn't say.
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
The idea of creating a lore/mythology interests me a lot.
1. About what draws you to Minecraft.
-What draws me to Minecraft is that there is a seemingly endless possibility as to what you can do with the game. You can make whatever kind of game you want of it. I love that MC allows you such flexibility and creativity.
2. General age, location, time zone.
- I am applying for my boyfriend and myself, I'm 18 and he's 24. We are located in the US in the pacific time zone.
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
-My boyfriend and I play quite often. Almost 24/7 on weekends and as soon as we got home from work it's MC the whole time.
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8
-What I find most exciting about 1.8 is to see the improvements that have been made and to just see whatever is new!
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8
-LOL nothing! It's MC, everything is exciting!
6. What PvP means to you.
-PvP to me means that it's there if you want to use it but you are not subject to it without you wanting to be. I really liked your idea of having like a PvP area.
7. What Roleplay means to you.
- Roleplay means to me making structures of a certain kind and going along with whatever hierarchy is set up in the game. Just following the flow of the game.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you.
-Building in multiplayer means to me is cooperating in building a town project or volunteering to build something for the town. Coming up with ideas. So on so forth..
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
-I think that my boyfriend and I would be good testers for the server because we are very passionate about the game and we are mature players. We don't cause drama and we are always happy to help! We respect all other players and we have made friends along the way with our time playing minecraft. We have been waiting so long to finally play on a good server and this sounds like it! We want a MC home :smile.gif:
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
-What I found most unique/intriguing about this server is that you seem to have a specific aim with the server and know what you are doing. It sounds like this server will be well moderated and no idiots will be allowed to ruin my boyfriend and I's hard work.
1. About what draws you to Minecraft.
The unrestricted creativity.
2. General age, location, time zone.
18, Arizona, Mountain
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
Weekends, weekday mornings and nights
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8
The villages and ravines
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8
Abandoned mines, I always get killed in them.
6. What PvP means to you.
It's a sport with rules and needs to be consensual.
7. What Roleplay means to you.
An ad-libbed adventure with pre-established characters.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you.
Building structures that would take forever to do alone, because its cool.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
Until November the laptop I use barely handles Minecraft so I can tell when there is even a little lag.
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
It was exactly what I was looking for, I can explore and mine so others can build awesome things with what I find.
1. About what draws you to Minecraft.
I saw some videos and said "I wonder what the game is like." and I bought it. Now I try to play everyday. I like how it is a blend of multiple types of gaming, such as building and survival. It is not like a server that is 100% only PVP and that kind of stuff (although I do not mind role-play, it adds story).
2. General age, location, time zone.'
I am 17, and I live in Arizona, U.S.A. My timezone is mountain time.
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
I play everyday, anywhere from 3 PM to 7 PM on weekdays (Monday-Thursday), 3 PM to about 11 PM on friday, 9 AM to 11 PM on Saturday, and 9 AM to 7 PM Sunday
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8
I like how they expanded upon farming by adding melons, pumpkins, vines, more mushrooms on the surface, and giant mushrooms.
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8
The hunger bar. It cripples you at the start.
6. What PvP means to you.
It means play vs. player. I don't mind it, but only if the person asks you first, because I don't like wandering in a cave, and BAM, I'm dead because somebody decided to kill me for no reason.
7. What Roleplay means to you.
It means people create a character and follow it. It also means that there is a story, and that it should be followed. It allows for crativity to flourish.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you.
You can either build on your own, or work on giant project with other minecrafters. It's as simple as that.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
I get on regulary and I critique pretty roughly, so anything that seems like it wouldn't work, I would warn you about it. I am also very mature, so i won't do stupid things (like griefing).
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
The fact that you want to make the server very big, and even put it on youtube! Other than fame stuff, I really like how the server will be based on teamwork, and not independence.
1. I really enjoy the cooperation that goes into things. I like meeting new people, making bases with them, occasionally raiding, etc.
2. 17, Illinois (Central)
3. Depends on how much homework I have, but usually I can do a couple hours on weekdays and more on weekends.
4. Villages and cooler landscapes.
5. Hunger. I think it takes away from Minecraft's general experience.
6. I'm not one to go crazy revenge killing everyone, but I do enjoy having the opportunity to attack people. I think it encourages trust with your group.
7. Never really been into it, but I wouldn't mind having some sort of job that society depends on.
8. I'm not much of a builder, honestly, but I don't mind working with people and gathering materials.
9.Well I've got a few hours to kill this weekend, and hopefully you can see I'm mature and take things seriously.
10. It being vanilla and incorporating mild PvP. That's attractive to me.
1. About what draws you to Minecraft.
A variety of things, the game itself is great, and can be enjoyed for hours, on a server I am drawn to a well structured, and founded community of players that get along with each other.
2. General age, location, time zone.
Age: 17, Location: Colorado, USA, Time Zone: Mountain Time.
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
Weekends I get on all the time, during the weekdays I tend to get on later at night, but not super late.
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8
The general exploration concept behind the new biomes and structures of the new worlds.
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8
The vast bugs, as well as the hunger bar, :/
6. What PvP means to you.
Player vs. Player, but only when both players agree, or the fighting was instigated by one of the two players.
7. What Roleplay means to you.
Immersing yourself into fantasy outside of real life, a way to get away from the stresses and obligations of your life.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you.
A build should be a community effort, or at the least benefit the community as a whole.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
I am great a cooperation in all aspects, I am great at solving problems, and I have a knack for breaking games :wink.gif:.
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
I would love to join this upcoming community, I also love vanilla PVP.
We are going to keep the seed when we go live, but I believe we will wipe the server and have a fresh start as we have gathered enough information on how we'd like to drive the community to build. :smile.gif: I should have the blog updated so we can start giving out more information to the current testers and interested players.

1. About what draws you to Minecraft.
THe ability to gather and build in a 3D universe is always an intriguing thing.
2. General age, location, time zone.
I am 24, and I live in Ohio. EST Time zone.
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times.
I just came back so I play daily, but at random times. I am playing it alongside my MMO..but I usually play both daily.
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8
Ravines are pretty awesome..and rivers!
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8
Hunger bar..
6. What PvP means to you.
I am not a fan of PvP in a game like this. It's a game to gather and build.
7. What Roleplay means to you.
Participation in a story from a first person point of view. It is fun under the right circumstances!
8. What building in multiplayer means to you.
Community. Nothing can beat it.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?
I am mature, and I am willing to take under any sort of project asked of me. I also love to mine.
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?
The fact that you're actually asking some serious questions to get people on the server instead of "whats your name and why do you play!?" I am not a fan of kids playing this game unless they are mature.
Overall I am looking for a server with a mature community, that works together and limits griefing. I want to be able to log in and not see that my stuff is burnt/missing/reset.
1. About what draws you to Minecraft. The way the WHOLE game is set up. From the OCD to the moments when a creeper gets in your face and kills you, it's all just so fun. I love that there is NO guidance, you just do what you what, how you want, when you want.
2. General age, location, time zone.My age is 14, Mideastern USA, US Central
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times. I play Minecraft like almost everyday. My typical times are about 4:00 p.m-6:00 p.m on the weekdays, and 9:00 p.m-1:00 p.m on the weekends.
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8 The new fighting system, because it presents SO much possibility for Roleplay, and the new food system, for the same reason, and the new terrain generation, I just love the mountians. :3
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8 The new food system, it may present possibilities for RP, it gets annoying FAST when you first start.
6. What PvP means to you. PvP is a controlled RP fight, not getting physical till one player is victorious, then the losing player is injured/killed, indicating a victory, but both players have to agree on the outcome of the battle.
7. What Roleplay means to you. Roleplay is a way to change yourself without changing yourself. I love it because it is so versatile, and how creative it can get.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you. Building in multiplayer means perfection and protection. Your building should be perfect, yet safe from mobs and players. Builds with multiple builders I expect to be giant or Huge and some how special.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server? I am a perfectionist builder, and an average in redstone. I am overly perfect when I'm building, rounding out even the smallest detail. I am also pretty good with redstone, allowing me to make traps and hidden doors fairly easy as long as I have the supplies.
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing? The over feel of it. You guys seem so serious from the first two sentences. I love the directness, and that you guys don't spend three hours explaining something completely irrelevant to the server. And I also love that the server isn't run by 9 year olds who barely know how to spell.
There seems to be large amounts of random lag when ever there is only one person is on the server, and they head to a chunk that no one has been to in awhile.
There seems to be large amounts of random lag when ever there is only one person is on the server, and they head to a chunk that no one has been to in awhile.
Hmmm, I'll have a test go with it tomorrow. I'm thinking what I'll do tomorrow is do a Server walkthrough of all that we sort of built and explored over the weekend and do a vBlog about what we're going to do for the following week to test/enhance the server for next weekend's test.
Also going to put out a few more invites and see if next week we can get 15+ People on the server, I know today I was playing with the view distance server properties and spawn rates, that might account for some of the lag. Thanks for bringing it up Crazy, I'll look into it for sure. :smile.gif:

1. About what draws you to Minecraft: I honestly don't really know what draws me to this game. Maybe because you can relax and have a good time at the same time? When it comes to multiplayer I enjoy the interaction whether it be building, exploring or simply conversing. Or maybe it is the fact that you can do whatever you want in this game when it comes to building.
2. General age, location, time zone: I am 20 years old and live in South Carolina, USA.
3. How often you play Minecraft and typical times: I just moved into my apartment with a friend(YES FINALLY!), so I have a lot of time on my hands. I am not going to be enrolled in school until next spring-ish and I am currently getting limited hours at my job that I don't even start for about 2 weeks. My times tend to vary. Since I am new to the area I am not going out much. I would say 5+ hours per day. Usually in the afternoon and at night. But I get on at any time of the day pretty much. It depends on when other people on the server will be active.
4. What you find most exciting about 1.8: O far I am just enjoying the new feel to it. I have noticed that the maps generate much more intriguing landscapes than past versions.
5. What you find least exciting about 1.8: I guess the abandoned cave systems. I find them annoying to navigate although I still enjoy exploring them. And its harder to see the creeper around the corner ready to blow you away ;P.
6. What PvP means to you: Whatever the server dictates. I prefer PvP zones where killing is allowed. I do not however go around stealing random peoples items or destroying their base/house..etc. I wish there was a way to infiltrate their base or house using certain tactics in order to be able to raid their items. But sadly that is not something minecraft provides yet.
7. What Roleplay means to you: Working as a community to better the server. Whether it be everyone having different jobs, classes and duties or simply helping one another to build an awesome city. I enjoy both.
8. What building in multiplayer means to you: I enjoy the things that can be built when two or more people are bouncing ideas off one another.
9. What would make you a good tester for our server?: Like stated briefly in my previous answer, I enjoy bouncing ideas off people. I would give my honest opinion and various suggestions on the server. And I would actively help better these opinions whether it be by helping to build something, learning a plug-in to help set it up, or test various zones of he map. I just enjoy the conversation and hearing others ideas and comparing them to mine.
10. When reading about this server what did you find most unique/intriguing?: I like the age factor. Now, age is not always directly related to maturity but it will serve a better grounds for conversation and maturity in discussion. I also sense that this will be a great server with dedicated members.
I didn't realize testing was this past weekend. I would still love to be a part of this server and possibly help testing in the future.

List of 3 strike offenses
*Creeper explosions - If you have a creeper go off and it takes out blocks you're responsible for fixing or at least containing the damage.
Story
(We are trying to keep the story simple and let it evolve as the server evolves. Below is the basic introduction to our realm, Teyo Inala)
* All players are expected to do maintenance of the settlements

Application
Broken down into three sections, these will be reviewed in great detail by staff. Please understand that there may be a day or two lag time before response. Understand that it will be this application that will decide if you are accepted; the more effort put into it the better your chances (obviously).
Good luck! We hope to see you on our server soon.
Personal Section

Robert
Our IGN's: mlubbsj & mafiosomiranda1
2. 17, Illinois (Central)
YouTube: TeyoInala
YouTube: TeyoInala
:smile.gif:
