(LURKER POWERS ACTIVATE!)
I was sceptical when I first approached Volt Holt as I have not had good experiences with Minecraft hosting before (being that I live in Australia and have terrible internet), However, I was pleasantly surprised, within 10 minutes my request for a trial server had been processed and answered within the same ticket they directed me to the panel and quickly explained the major features. After looking over the server panel I quickly installed a copy of Bukkit, started the server and got a couple of mates on to test it out. Once we were on the server I can honestly say it is the smoothest Minecraft server (barring local hosting) I have ever played on, coupled with the very high speed that tickets are answered and the support I received while installing plug-ins it made for a nice first experience of their service. After a couple of days we had chucked up a couple of largish monuments and I decided I would like to back up the world locally, mainly to play it in single player, again the ticket was answered in record time and I had the map file on my PC within the hour. I haven't explored the other sections of the site, or even looked into the web hosting (which I don't believe is activated until you have you first payment up). However, I have heard good things from friends, and indeed, this very thread. All I really have to say is if you're looking for a professional hosting company with very quick service and an easy to use server panel look no further.
I have had my server with Volt Host for about a week now. Here is my review of them.
Pros:
Best server control panel I have ever used.
Every server comes with an easy to set up MySQL database.
There is zero lag on my server.
Best prices that I have been able to find.
Great support team.
Cons:
None yet!
I would highly recommend going with Volt Host, they are great!
I just used this host to re-up my minecraft server, the owners are awesome people. I've used their sa-mp servers before and there was never any downtime nor any lag. I'm glad to be back with my old company so I can restart on the minecraft server we had ages ago, the custom panel helped me set up alot of the tools I needed to get started and I only needed help once which was my fault but they replied in 30 minutes. I'm glad to say Volt-Host is the best Minecraft host I've used ever. I recommend them 100% and if you find a problem with them, well they'll fix that.
So far with the minecraft server I have up now has 512mb and I have 3 people on my server and lots of things we've built. I mean we've been working on this city for 8 days, it's amazing. No lag, no downtime, no problems.
although there is no way of telling how many players are online like MCMyAdmin
I'm working on getting this in, unfortunately Minecraft has no direct query protocol like other games do (I'd imagine since it's still being developed, when a master list comes around so will a query protocol naturally), so we have to find efficient work arounds. Rest assured I'm looking for the best way to get a player count (and player graphing) in as soon as possible :-)
Arizona has been restocked and is ready for new orders. We have offsite instant backups & restoration coming soon!
I'm interested in your server hosting, i was on your website with a ticket open inquiring and all of a sudden after i refreshed the page it came up with "500 internal server error" not sure whats going on there.
I was asking about the discount, does it run for the life of the server or is it only for the first month as whats been said before wasn't very clear

That was a small patch to the backend system gone wrong, we try to keep those to a minimum but it happens sometimes (sorry about that!)

It sets your price to 50% off the base price for the life of your server. Even if you upgrade / downgrade from the control panel, it will still only cost $5 per 512MB of memory. All of our discounts we run are lifetime discounts, we don't do one month promotions =)
I got a trial server from these guys and it's absolutely awesome, however no credit card support is a BIG sadface. PayPal have blocked my debit card and I cannot use it with PP. If they had credit card support, I would jump on the chance to go with Volt, however, I can't. ):

Thanks! MoneyBookers is something that we're looking into for extended credit / debit card support (we've been through the debit / credit process with our bank however we didn't like the way things worked), the only problem being that verification with them seems to be taking extremely long (we've been waiting over a month now).

What about the Western Union option? Am I able to use that for the donation page (I share payments with a co-admin), and can I use WU with my debit card just like PayPal? I've heard I need to go to a local agent, and it adds on a 12% surcharge or something. I don't have an agent around my area and would rather not have to pay another charge.
Yep, you can run any mod you'd like on our servers - CanaryMod can now be installed by default through our control panel installer as well :-) (just added in this feature).

We're unable to integrate instant payments with Western Union since it's not an online payment processor rather more of a money transfer agent. If you're interested in paying with Western Union we can arrange this, simply open a support ticket and we can figure it out =)
I would like to inquire about a support email I sent in last night.
When I sent in the email avg. response time was 2 hours 33 min. Now it is showing 2 hours 49 min. It has been over 10 hours since I sent in the support email.
Now, I do have to say the questions I asked in the email were not easy questions. So, I have to believe it will take longer to get a reply. It might even take up closer to the 24 hour mark. I am not upset that my questions have not been answered yet, just inquiring about it.
It was sent in email format just for heads up information.
Edit: I also understand that being in email format instead of a support ticket, it might take longer to get an answer.

I actually just sent out a response to your email a few moments ago, you should be receiving it shortly (if you haven't already) =)
The average response time refers to the average response time over the most recent tickets opened, it doesn't factor in email response times (yet).
I'll let you all know what it is!

Free for anyone with a game server :-)

I don't really think its practical or even reasonable to compare some budget host to our level of quality.
The back end is slick and well designed, although there is no way of telling how many players are online like MCMyAdmin does.
Support has been excellent and the web hosting was set up quickly when asked.
My Ram usage has been far more consistent with this host for some reason too.
All good so far

We currently have over 60GB of space on our network that's ready to be filled up!
I am interested in getting a server and would like to request a free trial. How would I go about this?
Create an account on our panel and open a support ticket. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Also, we've gotten our demo panel cleaned up and running again - https://volt-host.com/demo/
