Hello, I manage the funds for a server, and part of my job is purchasing a host. I need to check with the owner and others to see which server is the best. While I wait for a response, I have a few questions. I know you said there isn't an exact end date for the use the 50% off coupon, but will it end soon? We plan to, at least hope to, open our server late September or early October, depending on when we finish the maps on our build server (its quite a large server). Also, just to check, this is a VPS? Not shared hosting? Xen VPS is my guess. We have a lot of custom plugins and maps, including multiverse, so there will be different players in different maps, so even though we may have only 50 slots, we will need 4096M for some of the load. Any help would be appreciated :smile.gif:
It was great for a week and a half and now it's offline, the control panel is super slow and doesn't do anything but lie about the server being online, and I can't connect via FTP.
I'm pretty dissapointed, but I've sent in a ticket and hopefully they'll get it resolved soon, or I'll have to move to another more reliable host.

Please review your support ticket and the notice in your control panel, we had some system issues (and the server should be resolved as of 4AM EST). We've credited everyone with 3 days of free service to make up for the issues.

The servers aren't hosted on VPS, they are hosted on a shared environment. The 50% off coupon will become inactive at the end of September =)
Well everything is resolved now, and I received a few extra days credit.
Since this was the first real incident, I'll give Volt the benefit of the doubt and keep on with them.
(If I seem overly critical, it's because I've had some bad experiences with other hosts in the past. I feel I have a responsibility to my players, and hate having to tell them that the server's down and I can't do anything about it.)
And now we're back to 500 errors at the control panel and the server going down.
I'm assuming this is an ongoing struggle with some issue... starting to get a bit worried about stability though considering I haven't managed to have a stable vanilla server with 2 players for 48 hours so far.
We don't have a planned discontinuation date but, We will reserve it for you. =)
You've won me over. I started a trial the other night, and I really like it. Had a panel issue yesterday, but it's much better now. I should have the funding come in before the end of Sept, but if I don't, were you serious? :biggrin.gif:
Pheo (the node you're hosted on) had an issue with it's controller which made several daemons on the server unresponsive due to the issues last night, after a few hours of debugging we weren't able to fix it so we had to do a hard reboot of the box.
Right now everything is back to normal and should stay that way (unless a creeper blows up the data center).
We've also found the issue in the backend via some heavier debugging which originally caused the conflict and we're working towards a rewrite to prevent it from occurring in the future. We're also working on streamlining the console and control features via the backend for our control panel system to prevent any timeouts / page hangs in the future. This should all be added in within the next 6 - 12 hours.
All of our other MC nodes have been operating fine today.
My sincerest apologies to all of our users who have been affected by this, our number one priority is always stability, we're all hard at work right now to add in systems which will do both self-healing and extended early detection with our network.
We understand that it's one thing to just say you're doing something and another thing to actually do it, we're (hopefully from your end) being as transparent as possible to ensure that you know what's going on and that we are currently actively working on it.

Yes, just make sure you have a support ticket opened with us about it before the end of the promotion so that we know about it =)
An honest response of any sort in this industry is pretty rare. I not only got that but a visit to our MC server once it was back up to explain the situation and make sure everything was running smoothly again. That's pretty top Notch (see what I did there?) service and may have just made me a long term customer even if they have a few more hiccups trying to get things settled.
Ahh, quality server for a cheap price. Starting my 7 day trial thing today and if everything turns out great I will be looking forward to paying for my own server. Hopefully it will be before that coupon expires! :smile.gif:

I am very happy to hear that you are satisfied. We try to retain a close relationship with our clients.

Okay, it's i possible for me to manage my server with the slowness. I really need it to be fixed as soon as possible.

Help support my server and buy a server through Volt-Host! They have excellent service and prices, and a wicked custom control panel! At the moment, you can use coupon code "getback" for 50% off for life!
Only servers hosted on Pheo are affected by this, all of the trials right now in Arizona are being directed on another server (Gemini) since Pheo is full (and orders haven't been accepted on it as of Thursday). The rest of the network is fine right now (2x in AZ, 2x in FR, 2x in UK and 3x in IL).
SSH access is down right now on Pheo due to a combination of an attack on the port which started as of ~7PM EST and an issue with the opensshd-daemon process which has once again arisen from previous issues, we're working on repairing this process on the server however we need to perform a hard reboot on the server to update the kernel. Naturally this would be faster however we've had to await our datacenter to process the reboot for us since we're still waiting on a fix for the RRB which is inoperable on our section of the rack.
Maybe ever consider things to be user error as-well? I bought the 2GB package set it up perfectly fine, transferred files from vee-server over fine & got the DNS redirected fine, with the server running smooth. Took only 30 minutes to get my account up after I paid so all good. Maybe I was lucky with the node :/

Thinking about coming a mod to simply not moderate.

Yes. =)
Thanks for the response.

I can vouch for this, it's running veeeeeery slowly right now, the control panel rarely responds, and the server itself is largely unplayable. -.-
It's probably part of the original problem(s) that was missed.
I'm not having any problems with it, but I am using a trial account if that has anything to do with it.

However, when I connect it's simply "A Minecraft Server", and it's a new empty world. :mellow.gif:
I really hope my files weren't wiped...
Update: Files not lost, just shuffled around.
