Also, as with most hosts, I'd say they have absolutely no idea with how much memory Bukkit actually needs. Or the vanilla Mojang daemon for that matter. Both clearly state they need a minimum of 1024 MB (1 GB) of memory, yet most hosts only offer that as a very advanced tier, while keeping the budget tiers at ridicilously low amounts of RAM, then wondering why Bukkit goes out of memory and freezes so often.
The "Minecraft needs a gig" thing is mostly superstition. That notice says nothing about how many players it needs a gig for. Five or six players and a few plugins can run in 256MB. I've had 8 concurrent users on a 256MB vanilla server, and it didn't crash.
1. Vanilla server, not Bukkit with plugins. We are running Bukkit on 640 MB RAM on MinecraftOn, with plugins, and 120 MB worth of a world, and it keeps randomly freezing, requiring a server reboot.
Edit: And when wandering off to a town we used to have at x 1500 and y somewhere - (region 2,-1), then going back to the center of the server, and doing /save-all, internal server error, and region -1,-1 getting regenerated. Only happening on MinecraftOn with less than 1024 MB assigned... tested it on my own PC, with 1500 MB assigned, does not occur.
And all that with ONLY me connected, so 1 user. When other users connect, the chances for a freeze increases further.
2. Both Bukkit and Vanilla server, on start up, tell you they do not have enough memory, if you assign anything less than 1024 MB. :wink.gif:
using your own computer is quite different. That would just mean that MinecraftOn doesnt have good equipment. And if you notice the tag in front, they are warnings.
