TNAHosting now plans to offer VPS services with Minecraft in mind!
Some people just need more than your average shared Multicraft instance can provide. From running custom services for a database or website to having more control over their server's configuration and resources; a VPS is most certainty the route to take. This is why TNAHosting is proud to announce that we plan to soon offer OpenVZ Virtual Private Servers to our customers.
The Offer:
OpenVZBetaTest
2GB RAM
20GB SSD Cached Storage
1TB Transfer @ 1Gbps
Dedicated IP
Linux OS
Free!
The beta testing will last approximately one month. During this time we will be fine tuning our nodes in preparation for their production launch. During the beta test some downtime, although minimal, can be expected. After the test period has ended, we will offer our beta testers a recurring coupon code for a heavy discount off their server.
Why OpenVZ:
Many may ask why we decided to go with OpenVZ over other virtualization platforms such as KVM or Xen. The reason is quite simple, OpenVZ is the most efficient with much less over head, especially when running Linux. This translates to faster and more cost effective services for our customers.
We do understand the potential downsides of OpenVZ, such as overselling, and will closely monitor our nodes to ensure this doesn't become an issue. Our nodes will never run out of the resources our customers and their servers demand.
In the future we may also offer different types of virtualization, but for now – OpenVZ it is!
Debian 8 with Multicraft Template:
Not everyone is experienced when it comes to setting up a VPS, especially one running Linux. That's why we've created a special template based on Debian 8. Just select it during checkout and your server will automatically be setup with Multicraft. No major configuration necessary! Just another way we're trying to deliver a VPS service with Minecraft servers in mind.
Will this only be for now? When will the vps expire?
The beta test will last approximately one month, or longer if we feel the need to do more testing. Once we push this service into production, we will offer our beta testers a discount if they wish to keep their server. If they do not wish to continue their server, it will be terminated after the testing period.

It would appear that the FTP server by default is not listening on all interfaces. We've made note of this and will adjust it on the template. In the Multicraft.conf file, ftpIP = 127.0.0.2 will need to be changed to ftpIP = 0.0.0.0. Shoot us an email at [email protected] if you'd like us to take care of this for you.
I don't understand what you put for hostname, ns1, and ns2. Are you supposed to simply put server1, ns1, and ns2 or are you supposed to put a domain in there?

Those are default fields built into the billing system we use, I'll see if I can remove/modify them. For hostname, simply choose a name for your server. The ns1/ns2 fields are not used, so simply putting ns1/ns2 into them will suffice.

812 MB/s I/O speeds are amazing - it would run Minecraft like a charm. +1 for this new company
EDIT: I built a miniature website on the server, reachable at http://170.75.152.237/
so far, the vps is pro on my end, i have a modded server with about 28 mods currently running nice and stable.
once i've completed the setup with the modded mc server, i'll add things like a ts3 and an automated icecast server to see
how far i can push the vps. also i'll use a gb of hdd to create a swap partition

Thanks for the positive feedback! Nice site!
Happy to hear it's handling your modded server. Looking forward to seeing how it handles everything else!

@rokgepz, it is impossible for one to create a swap partition on OpenVZ without host node access.
OpenVZ SWAP memory uses the host's RAM, but it is throttled to look like swapped memory.
Only if the host node runs out of RAM, will it begin actually swapping memory.
The clock on the VPS seems to be 5 hours behind for some reason, and it looks like I don't have permission to change this...
This account is old. I now go by RoboMWM.
Thanks for pointing this out! I adjusted the time on the host node and got it synchronized with ntp.
